Default Unnecessary idling

I really wonder about some of the truckers out here on the roads. I'm here in Mauldine, S.C. waiting till later this evening to get unloaded. The current temperature is 64°, but yet there are some truckers that have been sitting here all day long with their trucks running non-stop!

I guess fuel prices aren't high enough yet for some people.

I come across stuff like this all the time and it really irritates me.

Im not condoning idling, but the desire to idle may extend past Heating and Airconditioning. The drivers may be using appliances, TV/Computer/Cooking etc, that will draw to much from the batteries alone.

I use all of those things as well and still don't see the need to idle for 10 hours straight.

Maybe 64 degrees is not comfortable to them.

Your (the original poster) idea of comfortable is not always another person's.

its all a part of doing business. its all figured in the costs of hauling freight.
Most diesel engines will use $40-$50 a night in fuel.

I'd rather have a hotel room.

Think of it this way, take TWO phones, dial a long distance number, and leave them off the hook for 10 hours. Same cost.
