Default Not trying to gripe about my predicament, but

has anybody here ever decided to get back onto the truck after a lengthy, amount of time away from it?
Come June, I'm going to get with one of the local, rock/sand/cement haulers out here after I get one of my classes completed.
It will have been eight months after the fiasco that threw me into the hole.
I essentially have to get back into it and stay long enough to pay my way through extra school.

I was out of it for 18 years while I held a good paying job as an appliance technician at Sears.. when K mart bought them out, the new ceo decided that it was better to hire new people at lower wages so out on the street I went with no notice, the only jobs around where I live now ( they transfered me here) are truck driving, so I went back into it. the funny thing is I make more doing this than I ever made at Sears even though I got 18 bucks an hour there, of course I do work a lot more hours, but it's easier work and not near as much headaches.

I got fed up, in the 80s for a while, and joined the local Sheriff's department. Got certified in SWAT and every other interesting thing I could find, but kept my buddy (my Pete) driving him around at the weekends.. (read nutcase here) That lasted about 8 years, then another buddy - a human one - decided to start a flat bed hauling company, and asked if I would OO with him. I prefer flats to vans, and jumped at the idea.. After 8 years as a cop, driving the truck was like being in heaven - I have retired from full time over the road now, so has my buddy, but we both still drive around together, getting old gracefully.

Welcome to CAD Wild Bill Pete! 8)

I've been juggling two careers all my life, and I'm plum worn out. I kept up volunteer Fire/Rescue while I did construction. I retired from construction, and took up driving. I've been driving 7 years now, and 40 years in F/R. I've been off and on full time F/R through out my career for various reasons.

I'm full time F/R right now, because Michigan economy is in the toilet. No sense looking for loads until spring. I plan to fully retire from F/R this May, then just drive.

My body feels like it's been hit by a Buick and dragged a mile.
