Default Power Inverters

Hi all, I'm not trying to start a war, but, I'm going to be buying my first power inverter soon & I can't afford to waist my money.I'd like to get an idea from some of you as to what is a better inverter of the brands out there at the truck stops. I'm looking at a 2500 watt inverter...thanks

For the most part, the brands carried at the truck stops are somewhat cheaply made. If you want a really good inverter then you need to get a Tripplite or Xantrex inverter. These brands are what you often find in RV's and boats.

reguardless of what brand-- you need to look at a couple important details about the inverter- you really need one with stud/bolt binding terminal post-

don't get the kind where you insert the 2 or 0 gauge wires into the little hole and then tighten down the little screw--these will cause a fire.

also a seperate grounding post is nice
Funny- you started out by writing you didn't want to start a war-- but really, think about not starting a FIRE.

A remote control feature is also a big PLUS too.

For turning the inverter off and on. It can allow you a little more flexibility on where to mount it at.

Some can even be mounted outside.

What will you be using it for? We cannot really make a recommendation without usage.

Just a laptop?

Microwave(needs a LOT more juice)?

Running air conditioner over night?

if the biggest thing you are running is a microwave, all you need is 1500 watt. I agree, stay away from the truckstop brands, they are crap especially Road PRo stuff in anything. We had a 1500 watt, and worked fine for anything. 2500 is alot of juice. You might want to be sure your company will allow it also. We can have them, but the shop has to wire them up.

If you hook the wires right, it makes the lot lizard jiggle a bit more.
