Default Time for a "new" truck

Just got word today from my FM, My truck has been sold. (Ive been expecting the notification) I'll be heading for Springfield, Oh terminal on Monday to turn it in. Its been a real good truck and its my 3rd Classic XL with the company. I immediatly called Fleet Assignments in Springfield and told her of my arrival and to get me into another Classic. She said at the moment she has no trucks available, and I know the company has a "freeze" on assigning new trucks. (but, could only get KW new at springfield anyway). She will be getting trucks in this weekend and she has my request. Just hope I dont get somebody elses wreck.

Retired as company truck with 347k miles. Somebody is getting themselves a good truck.

Looks like Ill be working on a new avator come monday also.

I always love it when a company "retires" a truck from the fleet before they have a replacement in stock.

For the short time I was with PTL a few years ago they were doing that at such a rate they had anywhere from 15-20 current drivers sitting in motel rooms waiting on trucks and then there was the 10-15 new hires also sitting around waiting on trucks.

347k doesn't sound like very many miles for a big truck to be replaced.

I've got about 100k more to go on my truck before it'll be sold. It's gonna turn 800k miles next week easy.

Werners trucks are frequently sold while the company driver is still driving it, or its retired to Fleet Sales before 400k miles. I think a truck is available for sale around 250k miles, but the asking price is still pretty high. I inquired with Fleet Sales about purchesing my last Classic I was driving and he told me when it hit 250k miles I could then buy the truck. Asking price would have been about $65,000. They like to sell them early to get the best resale and have a good balance of warranty remaining on them. I know fleet sales pumps them out pretty quick. Plus keeping the company trucks under 3yrs old, keeps the maintance costs down as most "major" problems would be still warrantied. The biggest problem this truck had during my time with it was the air compressor stripped its mounting bolts of the engine. Fortunatly I was at a TA, they got it to stay on long enough to drive 15 miles to a Cat dealer for warrantied fix.
