Default Computer Aircards (i.e. Sprint, AT&T, Verizon)

Heads up everyone!

If you have a Sprint Aircard or any other provider for that matter, check you bills closely. Since I activated the Aircard 2 months ago, I was being billed for Anytime minutes. Research found that they were incoming calls from the numbers previous owner, that were going to voicemail. VOICEMAIL, I said, it is a data card!

Well, it seems, all accounts, regardless of type have the voicemail feature activated. I had requested originally that it be turned off, since the use was strictly for my computer. It had not been, so over the last two months I had been charged $25.40 for incoming minutes.

3 phone calls, equalling about 2 hours on the phone, and I finally got everything resolved. Credit on the bill and the Tech Support people finally figured how to deactivate the voicemail feature.

So check your bills and minutes - incoming calls coming into an aircard should not be there. I just wonder how much money Sprint and other providers have made on this so-called mistake over the last couple of years.

BTW, the card works great - much better than having multiple WiFi accounts - it stays active even while going down the highway. Have used it for weather updates and traffic very reliablely.

I love these "accidental" charges. Especially when you figure out they do it to every account.

Ooops, we "accidentally" charged every one of our customers and extra $25 this month. Ooops, we "accidentally" double charged all of the new start up customers this month.

I used to think they were incompetent but the truth is that there's nothing "accidental" about this, they're thieves, plain and simple.

I'm using Sprint, but the the dowload time on faxes or email with attachments is too slow. I'm searching for a solution, but the guys in tech support just say you have to stay in the broadband network to get any speed.

Somebody told me about Alltel today, and supposedly, their network is better for data??
