Black smoke from diesels is the new "tire smoke". Guys who like to mod their Powerstroke and Cummins pickups tinker with the pump to smoke like that.

Default Not so cool when it's something wrong

Personally, I didn't think it looked so COOL when I recently when an Environmental Control Valve went out on my Volvo. I was afraid that an injector went bad. I was told later when the mechanics replaced it that it was common on a Volvo for those to go out.

Perhaps if there wasn't actually something wrong with it I would have thought it looked COOL. However, having the valve go out in heavy traffic in Atlanta-on my way to a delivery wasn't very appealing to me.

Call me square but I wasn't in the mood for the traffic say nothing about trying to figure out why all of a sudden I looked like a train with black smoke coming out of my stack!!! 8)
