I agree with the sentiment, but not the 65 mph threshhold, or having it only apply to trucks. Hell, lately, one of my biggest beefs has been the asshole fourwheeler running 60 mph in the left lane, and absolutely refusing to move over.

I understand the frustration, since I share it, but I don't think these signs are a good solution. They remind me of the "65 mph PLEASE!!" signs we used to have on I-81, until they made us the laughingstock of the entire world.

What they should really say is:

LOOK IN YOUR DAMN MIRRORS AND DON'T HOLD PEOPLE UP, STUPID!

I think half of the world's driving problems could be solved if more people would look in their damn mirrors and/or pay attention to what they see. "Gee whiz, Maple, this truck has been at the minimum safe following distance behind me for 578,000 miles. We're running 10 mph below the speed limit. Do you think we should move over? Nah. I see a camper 3,000 miles up ahead, and I'm going to have to pass him eventually, because he looks to be running 15 mph under the speed limit. So I'll move over as soon as I pass that camper."

With the wording of those signs - does that mean if i'm travelling along I-81 in my personal vehicle or bobtail that I can run, say, 50mph in the left lane?

Yep!!!

Just went through I-81 both directions last week, and boy was that sign a gas! I forget how much of the time the road is a 3-laner in each direction and the rest a 2-laner but if it's a 3-lane road and we're going up a hill, if an oversized truck is crawling at 30 mph in the right lane, and I'm going 64 mph, there is no chance in hell that I won't go to the next lane over and pass the guy. It's all about common sense. If you lack it, you deserve the ticket.

I'm in Virginia today. They say "below 65mph," not "at or below." At least the ones on 64 heading east into Richmond do.
