Need some help about Donner's Pass. Been down pass several times in the past but, can't remember layout. Would appreciate any help as I'm doing a paper on proper decent on pass starting from breakcheck area.
Thanks in advance, Slick

Don't get too cocky as you pass Colfax and head down into auburn. Especially on the weekends, the chp's are hidding on the onramps to the westbound side. You can't see them until it's too late. Basically, it's easy as anything during the summer. It's 40miles or so of downhill that level's off in some places and climbs in others. Just keep your jakes on, set it to the right gear and look at the beautiful mountains...

I do believe that he is wanting a "terrain" description...for writing his book.

Like The Yooper said, the signs will tell you what to do.
This time of year, Donner isn't really any big deal; take it easy, a lot of up & downhill driving, watch your gears, watch your braking. It's not like the winding curves you'll find on The Cabbage.
