I noticed as I came into the yard here in Houston this morning that Sun Coast Resources across the street has a "Drivers Needed" sign hanging on their fence.
"Experienced Fuel Haulers Needed - Up to $10,000 Signing Bonus" Sun coast is a good company. New PacLease Peterbilt daycabs and nice trailers. Some class B trucks as well. Maybe I'll mosey across the street. -p.

Well I am a fuel hauler up here in Canada and let me tell you it's no bomb. It can catch fire pretty fast but it's not going to explode really easy. The company I work for had a guy roll a tridum trailer over last year and one of his hoses put a hole through the trailer and it started spewing out gas everywhere.
Hauling gas up here is good because none of the new Canadians aka immigrants can take over your job and cut the rates. I've been hauling gas around for about 8 months now and rather enjoy the job. Up here on a tridum you can haul up to 102,300lbs it's pretty fansinating knowing how much total weight you are in control of.

Most sign-on bonuses are pro-rated, meaning you get X number of dollars of that per month or something along those lines. What they don't tell you is that generally, that sign-on bonus comes at the expense of better pay and if you leave before that year is up, you have to pay back what you have gotten, with interest.
I know of several instances where the fine print concerning those astounding sign-on bonuses, turned out to be a jaw dropper.

I like the way that a company around here does it. For company drivers, after 5 years they give you a $10,000 bonus. There was a thing in the paper a while back where they gave out several bonuses at a company event.
