The better 4X4: Ford, Dodge, or Chevy?
#1
Am doing some serious thinking about trading in my Honda Accord for a new 4X4 in either an extended cab or crew cab. Anyone have any comments on whether a Ford, Dodge, or Chevy is the better buy? I'm kinda leaning toward a Ford F-150 but will look at all makes and models before making up my mind. 8)

MY dad has allways had a dodge and i have had 3 fords. The dodge and ford are to good trucks. Never really been around chevys. think thewre all about the same. But i am a slave to the name and will only buy FORD.

I am pleased with my 2004 Chevy 2500 HD Crew Cab Duramax 4 x 4 , 5 speed Allison. I stay away from Dodges, they don't hold their value or hold up in my opinion. I do like Ford's though, well the Super duty's at least. I just overall like Chevy's. I like their interior layout and feel. There's some pics of my truck on a slide show on my myspace main page. www.myspace.com/tkthetrucker

I don't know about the current models. I've owned all three brands in the past. Use to be the GMC was your better choice in General Motors Trucks. Heavier duty components than the Chevy model.
My best Truck was a Dodge Power Wagon. Those trucks cost the most...but the old saying..."you get what you pay for." Had great luck also with my F-100 and my F-250's. I worked Construction, and worked them all hard. Can't really say I was ever disappointed with any of them.

I was in the market for a new crewcab truck and was going to go with the chevy, but the new 2/3 plastic front bumper is a turn off. So don't rule out the GMC.

My silverado has 50k miles on it so far and hasn't seen a shop a day in it's life. I got 18mpg on the highway at 75-80mph on my recent trip to kansas..not the best, but I'm still running factory brakes, and everything. By far this has been the best truck I've had....might be because I've left it stock lol

I may not have a 4X4 truck but I can let a little light into thissubject via this battle. My parents HAD a 98 Ford Windstar minivan and at 100K the motor blew up. My brother had a 99 Dodge minivan and at 110K the tranny dropped the top 2 gears in it. Me on the other hand I have a 2003 Chevy Venture with 135K on it thing does not use a drop of oil gets 28 mpg on the highway and that is off the odometer and fuel receipts figures and the only issue I have had with it was at 98K the front hubs went out but covered under the extended warrenty I had on it. I am going to be sad to see it go.

I'm sorta partial to fords. I've had my powerstroke for 5 years and 150,000 miles and it's still going strong. I finally lifted it a couple months back and now it's like a whole new truck.
![]() The pic is current except for the fact I ripped off one of those steering stabilizers tonight...doh!
