Employment in the Trucking Industry other than Driving.
What are some of the other jobs available in the trucking industry other than driving. I with TMC as a driver, I'm having too much fun driving right now to change, I'm 50 so I can drive only so long. I realize that could be 10 or 15 years easily. I am looking ahead, someday I will want a different job. What are some of the more lucrative paying and more interesting jobs? I have an idea about what some of them entail, i.e. safety and dispatching.

You can probably be a dispatcher, or a recruiter in the future. :P Maybe the President of the company. 8) :P
On a serious note, I have thought about doing something different. Like sales, or computer work, or something, but working in the office means, moving to Lubbock. :? That's where our warehouse/offices are. My buddy that I run with every night is thinking about going into sales. I aint pushy enough, and I am too honest for that, I think. :P

Dispatcher/fleet manager
Recruiter
load planner
sales/customer service
safety department
Some of the bigger companies may even have jobs in the shop like
Service writer
Truck coordinator (sign trucks in and out to drivers).

Man, speaking of, I took my sister in law to DFW airport yesterday morning. Drove down there after the early church service, and drove back, straight to our yard. Got back in time to clock in at the yard. :? Anyway, from Bowie,Tx to Decatur,Tx(about a 25 mile stretch) I saw 4 DOT pickups, and about 6 black n whites. Montague county, and Wise county have about 400 DPS patrol cars. :P I guess they were getting all the Easter egg hunters.
