Ummm, what's a carcinogen?

Yes, of course it concerns me but there is no getting around it. I drive trucks and trucks need fuel. Next!

No, there's no evidence that proves prolonged exposure to fossil fuels causes cancer. Besides, I like the smell of diesel.

Can you dig it ?
Totally! I can. I'm not afraid to die but I'm sure as hell not going to die because some greedy bastard can't spare to invest a tiny amount of his fortune to making his employees life safer and more equitable.

If I'm an American businessman is it more beneficial to me to move my company to China and pay workers cents on the dollar versus paying an American worker a fair wage with benefits? Of course it is! does it make it right? of course it doesn't.

Does capitalism stand for nothing other than the ability to invest the least amount of money, do whatever I want to the environment and sell my product for the highest margin possible? regardless of the social, economic or environmental impact?

Most American businesses look only to the near future, it's all about profit margins, damn peoples safety or lively hoods. As long as we are making optimal profits we are doing good, even if that means moving jobs over seas and turning America into a service economy. That's precisely why American trucking companies would love to hire lots of Mexican workers, because they know they will work for far less with far less complaint and they will line up to do it. This all adds up to higher profits for a few CEO's and shareholders ignoring the damage it does to the majority of Americans.

Case in point, it's more profitable for me to fry your foods in clinically proven unhealthy trans fatty oils because the food tastes better and it's cheaper than the healthier alternative. Same goes for a lot of other things. They put tons and tons of salt in our food because they know it works on the same brain receptors as does sugar making the consumer happy due to the sugar high it causes in the brain. It's clearly unhealthy for us and the food companies know that but it's all in the name of profit.

For example, does cherry jello have to have artificial food coloring in it? No, but it makes it more apealing, despite the fact there is good evidence some food coloring is potentially very harmful and who are the people that are eating this stuff? that's right, mostly kids! The people it threatens to harm the most.

This isn't about taking away peoples freedom to choose, it about being a responsible business and offering real choices are don't harm people simply in order to make short term profits.

I'm sorry for rambling. I know this seems off topic but that is what I was getting at. I'm not against free choice or capitalism, I just believe there are ways to make a profit give people what they want and not profit at their expense.

Not in the least.

Over the last 25 years, my gross income from diesel fuel use, is right in the area of $1,300,000. Two weeks ago I bought my own truck..so I will see what is to come. Maybe good..maybe not so good.

However...Have you noticed that you enjoy YOUR life Mr. Volund? Even if you buy only Organic Foods...buy only Organic Cleansers, and live an Organic Life...it was ALL brought to you by a "Diesel Burning TRUCK" :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

BTW....what are your clothes made of anyway???
