Got a few clothes that were pretty well covered with deisel fuel...don't ask ops: Is there anything that will get the deisel smell out, tried everything I can think of and can't afford to keep tossing clothes!!!

Getting any smell out is an easy 3 step process

1) Find Skunk
2) Scare Skunk
3) Get sprayed

Helps to have a lot of tomato juice handy before step 1!

Seriously though, I use ERA laundry detergent and have not had a problem. Seriously soaked may take 2 washings though.

 

Stop taking a diesel fuel bath and the smell should go away plus you won't have to throw any more clothes away.

And having diesel smelling clothes is a problem because ____________?

IMO diesel fuel smells better than the finest perfume, second only to the aroma of diesel exhaust. :P

 

I agree, I douse myself with a good splash every morning before heading out. The ladies love it :lol: :lol:

 

getting diesel smell out of clothes, or anything else, is hard to do.
Try buying that solution that you wash your hunting clothes with or wash them with Vinegar

 

Downey Fabric softner is great for nasty smells, dont know about diesel but sure got the skunk smell off of a dog. Wet a couple of face clothes and toss em around the cab...gets rid of the smell of feet and butt pretty good as well if your the type to stretch those showers an extra day. Pretty handy when you have to pick up a truck or do some slip seating.

 

IMO, yoopr nailed it. A good heavy dose of vinegar will do wonders or you can subsitute that with a "good" citrus cleaner, but vinegar works better. Double up on the detergent and use fabric softener also. You may have to wash them a couple of times, but it will get most if not all of the smell out.

If it's a stain spot, diesel, oil or similar, spray the spot thoroughly with WD-40 and then rub in hand cleaner just before you put it in the wash. A couple of squirts of liquid hand cleaner in the wash also is better than any spray and wash on the market. The WD-40 helps to loosen up the stain, as JR said "Boy, oil and water don't mix", and the hand cleaner will wash it away.

Growing up on a farm I saw my mom us this remedy a million times and it worked like a charm. Have done it a million times myself and it still works.

 

There's a product called "Fast Orange". It works well to take the odor out. You can purchase it at Wal-mart stores. BOL Drive safe everyone.
