Default ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (PT.1):

Based on recent observations, i feel that it is totally appropriate for us to go back (or perhaps more appropriately to go to for the first time) to elementary school.

1) If a truck is passing you DON'T flick the high-beams. Either dim the lights or do nothing at all. Quite frankly, the nead to give a signal when a truck passes you is generally unessesary---unless in bad weather and/or the truck is pulling doubles or triples.

Yes, i understand that it is easier, nowadays, on most trucks to flick the high beam rather than to lean over and use the light switch to dim the lights. But please don't do it anymore.

2) If a truck is idling with the curtains closed, or even if the truck isn't idling with the curtains closed, DON'T be knocking on the door.

There is no such thing as a "nap" in trucking; The driver is either asleep or awake. Respect his/her sleep and respect your own sleep and your own need for sleep.

If you need a jump, you'll either have to wait or call a towtruck. If you need directions (as if the other driver will automatically know) ask a police officer, firefighter or best yet, a postal delivery person.

Unless there is an emergency situation---as in life or death, or the truck is blocking something, then you must refrain from knocking on the door.

3) Please pee (or the other thing) in a toilet.

Now, admittedly, there are times when you are simply, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere and there are no toilets. If you must urinate outdoors, then please a) do it on soil where the urine will be absorbed into the ground and b) please do it behind a bush or some obstruction; No-one wants to see you do that. Well, actually some people do. But we cannot assume that everyone wants to. So, please do it out of sight.

4) After fueling you have 7 minutes after pulling up to get the hell out of the fueling island. If you cannot do what you need/want to do withing the 7 minute time frame, then the best thing to do would be to go park in the lot, then walk back in.

Taking longer than 7 minutes is just inexcusable. We need to be considerate to our fellow drivers regardless of what company they drive for.

Feel free to add and/or comment.
