I've got a delivery tonight in Syracuse, NY. They're under lake-effect snow warnings up there until 7am tomorrow. Calling for 2-4 feet of snow with rates of 1-3" per hour of snow.

I'll have a fun drive the whole way across. Coming out of Fairmont, WV, I'll take I-79 north to Erie, PA then head east across the NY thruway.

This should be fun...

NOT
WHY??? Why not take I-68 to I-81 and stay EAST of the "lake effect" snow?? It might be a few miles further, but I would think the speed would be faster. And no tolls.
yep,I90 by Erie is where you don't want to be. We just had a 50 car pile up there the other day! If your not used to the snow do I81
good luck, go slow, be safe

 Ya..eh.
I kept my cell phone off long as I could.
My Boss at least had the decency to stick my furry butt in a brand new Pete with a new (whisper quiet) Reefer. "Git 'R Done" time again. :?

Well, the drive up yesterday wasn't too bad, except for between Erie & Buffalo - pretty much white-out for that section. After Buffalo, it was sunny skies. There was one string of fender-benders on my side of the highway, but traffic was rolling through it. Nothing major - 1 truck in the median, 1 truck rear-ended by a sliding car, stuff like that.

Syracuse got nailed last night while I was being unloaded. Pulled out of the dock at 1am and had no idea where the roads were - literally. I'm just glad that there was a service plaza 1 mile from the get-on ramp of 90 for me to shut down in.

Just took a quick look at the weather - looks like that bad section from Buffalo & Erie is still sitting there. I've got to go to Rochester to pickup a load heading back to Fairmont, so looks like I'll have the same thing to run in.

I thought about running across to 81, but with the weight I was pulling, I just didn't want to deal with the mountains if I didn't have to (grossing 79,500).

I've driven in that lake effect snow going across NY state many times, no big deal just slow down. I ran in snow all week long up here, 2 lane roads too, at least you have decent roads down there, not like these goat trails that we call roads up here
