Dad begins chemo and radiation treatments tomorrow

Well all the tests and biopsies have been done and Dad's lung cancer is inoperable but can be treated with chemo and radiation. He'll start tomorrow (Thursday, Jan. 25) and will have to go three times a week to Fort Smith for treatments. "Just because he has cancer doesn't mean it's an automatic death sentence," his oncologist said. We're optimistic about it and all of his doctors and nurses involved have been so compassionate that it's unbelievable. I just want to give a big THANK YOU to my CAD family for your prayers and words of encouragement. You'll never know how much it means to myself and my family. Whenever I get down and out I just read some of your replies to my post and it really gives me a huge sense of relief and hope. As I've always said and I'll say it again, truckers are the best people in the world!! You folks are awesome!! 8) 8)

I wish your father a speedy recovery. The treatment is hard on a body ( I know personally having NHL myself ). Don't freak out when he starts looking bad and feeling like crap, just help him along as best you can. It seemed to me it was harder on my family watching me take the treatment and look like I was falling apart. So try not to look at him this way all sad eyed and everything. ( even tho it is ) It takes more out of a person when he see's his family sad about the whole thing.
Joke around a bit and try to be happy around him, smiling faces at home help a lot. NHL is not curable but it is treatable, been in remission for 7 years, sooner or later it will come back and will have to do it all over again. Best wishes for you and your family

My brother has inoperable cancer also, and has been undergoing chemo. Thankfully the mass has been reduced by 50% during the first round. He goes back for another evaluation this month.
In my prayers as well.
