Default Hillary Clinton Web Dialogue #1, #2

I am watching it right now. Are you?

Have you seen it?

http://www.hillaryclinton.com

It is very dissapointing. There have been four specific questions already, and not many specific, clear answers.

- the war
- health insurance
- foreign oil dependance
- immigration
- international relations

I heard a couple of hints of an attempt to an answer, but not one clear, specific solution.

She is simply stating the existing problem, and than she promises that she will 'certainly look into it' and do her best to come up with solutions.

:?:

It is so dissapointing. I did not hear one real, specific answer or solution.

The one thing she did answer clearly was to the question: "What is your favorite movie?"

So many words, so few solutions.

another question she just received: "how will you make it possible for the middle class to afford going to college"

a little bit of an answer, but too much of the same: stating the problem, without offering real solutions.

- lower student loan interest
- need-based not merit-based
- forgiveness loans

ok, maybe a little bit of a solution.

forgiveness loans? really? will you forgive my college loans?

this is bull

this is so upsetting

she keeps saying:

- we have to find new ways
- we have to look into it...
- we have to find new solutions

whaaat? when exactly are we going to do that? after you get elected?

I want some answers NOW

This is the exact same thing the Democrats did in 2006 (which Hillary was guilty of as well). They didn't state what their positions or ideas were, but rather, only what they "perceived" the Republicans positions were, and then stated "Vote for change! Vote for us!"

I expect you'll hear a lot of that same gobbledygook from the rest of the Democrats in the near future.

Irrespective of your political leanings, whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, this is not the time in a campaign to begin addressing specific issues. This is the time where candidates are elevating their public profile and lining up campaign donations.

The only time any candidate, Republican or Democrat, will start addressing specific issues at this point in the political process is if they are running on a specific cause or issue; those are not the candidates that survive the campaign process. In short, they do it because they have no other alternative but to do it. A politician who starts addressing specific issues, and offering specific ways in which to address those issues, does so to his/her own detriment.

Sorry folks, I didn't write the rules here!! This game plan was in effect long before I came onto the scene!!

Yes, I understand what you are saying Useless, and I can understand the strategy you are refering to. Yes, it is early to get that specific.

However, the whole theme for these 'dialogues' held by Hillary was to get the public involved in asking questions about issues they find important.

The only thing Hillary was really good at tonight, from what I saw, was at pointing her finger at what the problems are. She did that quite well, and articulate. As far as any solutions, none.

I understand your chagrin, Horse Power, but from the standpoint of a political strategist, she did exactly what she was supposed to do!!

I guess I'm about to show my age a bit here, but in the early 60's, a big hit on the Movie Screens was "The Music Man", which starred Robert Preston as "Professor Harold Hill", and also starred Shirley Jones as "Marian", the town librarian, piano teacher, and spinster, and Ronny Howard as Mariann's little brother, "Winthrop".

Now, for those of us who are old enough to remember, (or have seen a stage production) Professor Harold Hill came into town, wanting to hawk his promises of organizing a boys band; but before he could offer a solution to a problem, he had to create a problem that needed solving, and then stir the ire of the townsfolk. Of course, Robert Preston did this in a Tony Award winning way, as only he could!!

By the time he ever got around to offering a solution, he had everybody worked into a real conniption about the deleterious effect that the town pool table was having on the moral fiber of River City's youth. So, by the time he got around to offering his "solution", he already had a steady following in place.

The world of politics, and particularly, the race to The White House, mimics those trends depicted in the movie, or as it played on Broadway. So, just recognize that this is how the world of politics operates, and don't let it get your bowels into too much of an uproar!! As a nation, we have survived this pattern since Marconi gave us the radio!!

ok, but I don't think people need to be reminded what the problems are.

- people know the war stinks
- people know the environment is not clean (most people)
- people know health insurance is a problem

to me, it is like accentuating the obvious

it is not exactly like the movie scene you described. She is not 'creating' these problems, only to solve them later. She is pointing out problems people are already struggling with. She is really BLAMING.
