Sorry if this turns out to be a double post. Connection screwed up.

Anyway it is close by design. the pole on the shifter clears the wood by about 1/4 to 1/2 inch when going for 4th or 9th (strt 10) I can strugle and slide it farther toward the riders seet if I want to get down on the floor and do it, however I put it as close to the shifter as I could because this enables my wife or son to slide in and out of the pasanger seat.

Never had one crash. But, as a precaution I back up to cd once a week anything thats important. IE digital pics, spreadsheets and logs.

I also purchase the tower from Best Buy. You can buy the cheapest model they have on the floor for like a few hundred, add a 3 year warenty to it that covers the pc. if something happens it's fixed free. Just gotta live without the pc for a couple weeks. I also carry my laptop as backup in case the tower goes down.
