AMEN!!!!!

On a side note, I was listening to the radio this morning and they were saying that this may be the last Pearl Harbor reunion.

They said that the reunion is held every 5 years and with the age of the current survivors, there is a good possibility that this will be the last one.

Weather it is or not......the survivors and the brave Americans that perished that awful day will never be forgotten.

a sad story....

I was in Best Buy today doing a little Christmas shopping. While writing my check out at the cashier I made the statement "December 7th, a date which will live in infamy." The young clerk just kinda giggled unsure of what to make of my statement. I asked her if she knew what was important about today and she responded no. I told her it was the 65th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the US entry into World War 2. She sounded amazed and asked if I was a teacher or something. I said no, I am a truck driver who knows a little about our country's history.

Even though it was 65 years ago it was an event that forever changed our country. The effects of that attack and the war are felt by the US even today. Yet most young people don't know what happened.

Those who don't remember or learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I'm down in Indiana, and was lucky to be able to watch the History Channel today. I learned some new things about this myself. No matter how much you have heard of these events, seems you still have something new to learn. Some things just impact you differently, at times.

The reason we keep repeating history is that we forget. Every generation has it's war. It was a generation from WWI until WWII. Since that time, we have had several "conflicts" but not wars. Korea, Vietnam were considered conflicts. They were considered conflicts because war was never declared. On 9/11 we were attacked on our own soil for the first time since December 7th. WWI and WWII were global wars with virtually every country in Europe, North America, Asia and North Africa being involved in the fighting. Millions perished. December 7th was the beginning of the emergence of the U.S. as a world power. There are some things which we should never forget.
