Default Talk about red tape......Madness, sheer bloody madness

This may seem crazy but I can assure you it,s true.
Under the "Clean neighbourhood and environment act 2005", if a local authority in England are notified of an abandoned supermarket trolley that needs collecting and disposing of; They must first devise a policy. Then they must make a resolution and publish notification of said resolution in the local press. After three weeks, pending any public objections to the resolution and/or policy, they can then implement the policy and collect the trolley......
Bonkers. quite simply Bonkers......
hee hee hee hee...I,ve had enough! I,m off to the park to chase squirrels.....Hee hee hee

Gee, Wot. What you blokes need is MORE unemployment and poverty! In THIS country, that trolley would be quickly "enlisted" into the service of the homeless for carrying about all their belongings! And if it was missing a wheel, the government would pay $750 dollars (from a defense contractor) for a replacement wheel!

That way, the homeless person could continue "cleaning" the streets of garbage, and wouldn't have to be counted on the unemployment roles, would be considered as a new "job" added, and Bush could claim a booming economy!

They even give classes on how to be an effective homeless person. They take them to dumpsters and show them what would make a gourmet meal. I don't remember, this was in San Francisco, or DC.

My favorite is the plan that your London mayor has to fix "global warming". If you drive an suv or 4x4, you will be charged 25 pounds a day to park at your residence. I think that is around $50 a day. He was quoted as saying that "if you can afford to drive such a gas guzzling vehicle, you can afford the 25 pounds daily fee."

I do not know if this was implemented, but last I heard there was a bit of support for it.

The only crackdown on 4x4,s over here that I know of, is the increased road tax they have to pay.
The thing that pisses most British people off, myself included, is when city dwellers living alone buy huge 2 ton vehicles they cannot drive or park, then act aggressively towards all and sundry because "they" feel safe in their little tank. Most Brits want to see legislation restricting the purchase of 4x4,s to people who actually need to own them(I.E farmers etc and residents with rural post codes, people who may take them off road)
The fatality rates of pedestrians in the U.K have increased as well, due to the amount of people being hit by 4x4 drivers who quite simply, cannot handle the vehicle.
Before anyone jumps down my throat about 4x4,s, remember, in Britain we do not have the space you have and the vast majority of our population live in confined urban areas. Why an accountant living in Chelsea needs an off road vehicle is beyond me
