Default TAXES...EEK!!

Ok this is my first year driving so I have a tax question sort of..are there online tax preparers? If so, would anyone like to reccomend one? Or does anyone know if self preparation software supports drivers rules? Or would I just be better off looking for someon local like HnR block?

Thanks
Bill

The answer to your question requires the knowledge of whether or not you're a company driver or an O/O. The taxes look very different depending on that.

Stay away from H&R - find an accountant that deals specifically in truck drivers, or has many truck drivers as clients. You will not regret it.

A couple of years ago I did my taxes, as a leased o/o, on the internet with TurboTax. They came out fine, and I got money back with no problems. I think it cost me 20 or 30 dollars, and the money I had coming back was direct deposited to my bank in about 10 days or so.

Then, I got my own authority and started buying trucks. I hired a CPA firm to handle the payroll and all of the required tax payments. They reviewed that TurboTax return for me, and found that I actually had a few more bucks coming back. They refiled it for me, and I put a few more bucks in the bank to pay the accountant. In one end, and out the other.
