These cell phone companies are supposed to be putting together a telephone directory for those with cell phones. If I want someone to have access to my phone number I will give it to them. I don't want everyone to have my number. I don't want people to call me to sell me something and I have to pay them for the privilege. I think they are going to have more problems concerning this type of behavior. It could be that Verizon made these numbers available and it is now coming back to haunt them.

 

off course I agree with you and they already know this is a problem. The scary part is I did not know I was recieving this spam so I could not block it. I did not have this problem with sprint

 

I have been thinking about switching to Verizon once my contract expires with Sprint. I think I might want to rethink this. :?

I had the same thing happen to me at Sprint. It took one phone call to customer service to fix the problem. They credited my account for the charges, and I had them put a block on my phone from *any* text messages. I haven't seen another BS charge now in over 6 months.

 

I've blocked all text messages, it also keeps people from sending images to you... $$$

 

I have had Verizon for over 5 years now and never had this problem

 

Doesn't your phone have the option to block this stuff?

 

My mom is having problems with this stuff thru Cingular. I told her to get in touch with Cingular right now, before the bill comes in and let them know what is up and that she is not going to pay for it because she did not sign up for this stuff. I have not had these problems, mainly because I do not give my number out to anyone though I get one maybe once a month or two. What I hate these days is that most all phones come with the text messaging feature turned on.
