What do you think? we paid to have the net improved... but
I watched a really interesting program last night called, The Net @ Risk -- a Moyers program.
I wanted to ask you if you knew that about 10 years ago the major communications companies were given tax breaks when they agreed to upgrade the net for everyone's use.
Apparently the net in Japan is about a hundred times (literally) faster than here. As I understand it, it involves using fiber optics instead of copper.
So, our companies took the money and didn't do the work.
Now, the companies want to do the work, but they want something ... this time they want the right to charge individuals or companies ... so not only did they get the tax breaks, (which I guess tax payers paid them) they now want the right to charge more for additional speed.
There were quite a few complicated parts that I can't recount to you.
But basically, what do you think?
