I missed this board, I'm finally able to sit and type a little since the accident.
Back in the middle of September I got hosed with Caustic ( sodium Hydroxide) nasty corrosive. I was bringing my sample bottle up for the lab while I was waiting on another tanker to finish up, I didn't have my full safety gear on, just glasses, hard hat and short rain coat, no leg protection. The drivers hose let loose, still not sure why, but I was directly hit in the lower legs. The burns were so bad I'm just starting to walk without pain, that's the reason I haven't been on in a while.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. That stuff is NASTY... I was walking past a tanker that had foam coming from it. One little piece of it landed on my chin. Still don't know what it was, but it was a while before I was able to shave again. I can't even imagine both legs. Hope that at the very least, it stayed in the lower regions of the legs... Not the upper. Get well soon. And welcome back.

want me to find and post how glad you were to go to Tankers? :P I wouldn't have said that but you said you're OK now. Welcome back Kenny BTW, thanks for the kind words everyone, even though I still feel like a dumb ass.

You wanna hear something that will make you feel Better I'll Be VERY open here and tell you what happened to me in the late 70's when I hauled Tankers.
I was married(at the Time) and I had come down with Mono which was caused by me running 18-19 hours a day. I decide to go Local and this guy hired me to run from Gladstone to the PaperMill in Escanaba hauling fuel for the Mill. My Doctor advised me VERY strongly to not go to work because I was still a Pretty sick Puppy. The Oil Terminal was in Gladstone and it was a Gravity feed Tank and Loaded from the top and you stand on a Platform watching it's progress. Well anyway I'm pumping away and I see this Cadillac just SCREAMING down the road coming towards where I was. Anyway-On my last load to the Mill I forgot to Close one of the Shut off Valves at the bottom(where you hook up your Hoses). As fast as I was pumping the Fuel in the Tanker it was coming out at the Bottom just as fast ops: I couldn't see it or smell it Now THAT was Embarrassing- I then went back to OTR :P
