Just purchased a Cobra 29 NW its not picking up much after I calibrated it? I noticed the antenna cable has been pulled away from the connector on the radio end.Would this cause the radio to not pick up a signal??? And do truckers still talk on CB's like they did back in the 70's and 80's???

No-We were respectful and a brotherhood back then.

With the advent of XM radio, I've found that more and more drivers feel that the XM is more important than the CB. But also, there are so many inconsiderate drivers that use the CB for so many other things, like letting everybody know they have gas after eating, playing music over the CB, and things like that, that many other drivers don't want to listen to it and leave theirs turned off now. I, myself, will NOT answer one of those "BIG RADIOS" because I generally can not understand what they say. I figure that if they can not do me the courtesy of having a radio that I can understand, they do not deserve an answer.

Sounds like to me,that your coax end has seperated. You can get them at Radio Shack. Get the cramp on ones, and not the screw on ones,or whatever they are called. Them are worthless. Yes,that would be the reason why your SWRs are wacked out,and your radio is quiet all the time. :P
