My day started out good until...
I received a phone call this morning. My grandmother passed away...
My family isn't really close, but losing someone is always rough. When my girlfriend called to tell me, I asked how my dad took it (it was his mother). They couldn't get hold of my parents, as they left to go on their 1st vacation in at least 5 years on Wednesday. They gave the name and number of the hotel they were checking into, but the hotel said they didn't have anyone under their name.
I stopped the truck for a bit and made some phone calls and finally tracked them down. They hadn't arrived at the hotel yet is why they couldn't be found.
My grandmother specifically stated to everyone before she passed (she was 95) that she wanted to donate her body to science, and that there was to be no memorial services held for her. When she said it, it sounded like a good idea to everyone. It was her wish.
Well, let me tell ya, sitting in a truck 450 miles from my family during one of the worst times really sucks. Ya, I could call my company, relay this load, and head home, but I was told not to by my parents.
My dad talked to his brothers/sister about it, and no, they're not even getting together over this. My parents are going to finish their vacation, but I could hear it in dad's voice that being away from home was the last thing he wanted to do.
I know this has nothing to do with driving, but I just needed a place to get some of this out.
