I just read that there are a couple of state legislators in Ohio who are proposing a bill that would require any permit holder to get the written permission of any business or property owner before they could legally carry a gun. This essentially kills any carry permit. Those who live in Ohio need to check into this and voice your concerns right before you kick the idiots out of office.

I carry around my hometown, had guns all my life, but it's not worth fines, courts, etc.... I don't feel safe in certain areas, but suggest carrying other means of protection, "MACE" is a good one, at least it will allow you enough time to get away and run for help or safety.
    Just my 2 cents worth.

Hair spray can also work when sprayed in the eyes. The communists seem to be winning. You could get a carry permit and it should be good in most states, but there are a few that could be a problem, such as New York, Massachusetts, etc., If you pack it properly, you should not have a problem in most states.

First of all people should really quit listening to the cb lawyers and learn the laws

I know the laws and there is not a law on the book about you cant carry a firearm in a CMV
the law is state to state law
If you carry a CCW permit you can carry a firearm in a CMV
as long as you are in a state that has recprocity with the state you live in
and you obey their CCW laws
company tell drivers no firearms because as employee it make the company countable for its employee

so pick up and book and turn down the cb and learn something other then being a steering wheel holder for a company that dont care about your safty

"The communists seem to be winning". Gman I'm almost speechless. Whatever it is that you've started watching on the tube or started listening to on the radio the last few years you need to try something different. I say this as someone that has substantial respect for you, I frequently disagreed with the old Gman but I miss him. The newer incarnation troubles me with how he distances himself from reality.

If it makes you feel better, I could use socialists instead of communists. I and others have used communists to describe states with anti gun laws, such as New York, Massachusetts, etc., for years. I don't see a communist under every rock, but they are around. In fact, there have been communists in the USA since the early part of the 20th century, at least. They helped the unions organize Ford Motor Company. So, they have been with us for a very long time.

I am very frustrated by what I see happening to this country. I may be a little vocal about my concerns. I am sorry if that concerns you. You could put another label on it, if you wish. There are some good people in this country. Can you think of a better label for some of these people? I would like to believe that there are more good people than bad. Some may just be misguided. I can see how far awry things have gotten when people such as Jamie Fox, an actor, gets on stage and calls Obama his "lord and savior." I may still have that link, if you care to check it out.

One thing that is critical to a free nation is free speech. There is a representative in Georgia along with Nancy Pelosi, who would like to limit or control free speech. That is the way communists operate. They try to control what people can or cannot say. The thing that makes America great are our freedoms that are guaranteed in our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Those rights are being threatened. We can agree or disagree. That is also a freedom we can currently enjoy. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing. I think that having a robust discussion can foster new ideas and is one major thing that keeps this country free. There are more people with whom I talk with that are also beginning to speak out about these people who would change this country into something unrecognizable. I am not afraid of a boogie man hiding under my bed. But, there are some who call themselves politicians and representatives of the people. And, they are much worse than anything that would be hiding under the bed.

My uncle who's been driving all his life, use to keep a gun with him in his truck but when he switched to a new company they told him that it was against their rules. They called it a liability which I can understand, you don't want to held responsible for one of your drivers getting upset a popping a cap in someone. Also, if someone else got a hold of the gun its equally as dangerous. He now carries a large knife under his seat (he's a solo driver) and just doesn't tell the company. While I would like to carry a gun when I start driving, I understand why some companies are against it and that there are alternatives such as knives and pepper spray. I'm already a knife nut and have plenty to stash around a vehicle.

I carried for a long time. I have a ccw and would have military instillations hold it when I went into bases.

Well, I might not agree with Communists taking over, but I would Facists. They are both Socialists, but go at it in different ways. Communism demands total state ownership and control. Facists have no problem with private ownership, but they want to control how it is done. That more describes the approach we are taking. Nothing like having all those military folks who died in WW II to protect us from Facism just being a waste. We could have just spared their lives and sided with Mussolini and stayed neutral in the war. Those vets, along with those of us who did the Korea, Vietnam, Cold War thing, were just wasting our time. My 7 years doing it was a total waste. We were defending something that the majority of the country did not want. Yes, majority. The 50% who do not vote at all, along with the 50% of those who do vote for socialism. That is 75% of the country. We in the 25% were just being played for fools.

I respect both Copperhead and gman immensely. Gman knows it.

But you two are political loons and dont know what yorue talkign about politically. Thats the problem you right wingers think with your emotions not your minds (politically). So you lump "all things i dont like" into socialist/commie etc and you change definitions so t hat evil is never right wing.

Communism (the SOVIET form there are other forms) is literally based in the bible. "Acts 2:44-5 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.". That is of course its INTENTION. Like fascism, naziism, and all the rest it can only exist in a system without democracy. Communism in THEORy doesnt require tyranny.. in reality it does because people wont accept a system where joe makes 50k a year doing makework while tom busts his butt and makes 50k.

Socialism: None of you have ever lived outside a blended system. All of you are the recipients of socialism. Social security is openly socialist (but not communist). Workers comp, regulated insurance systems, government bailouts of business, the insurance system of EVERY state are socialist. You have never lived under any system that wasnt. We have tried pure non-socialist systems by forcing them on countries in south america, cuba etc. Their economies all failed catastrophically and the governments were all overthrown. When you hear about Cuba, the Salvadors, even Iran.. thats what happened.

Fascism is the exact opposite of what copperhead thinks though when yoru thinking is that Bizarre it is to be expected. Fascism is the right wing dream. Mussolini himself equated it to the merging of corporate and government. It requires totalitarian control by the wealthy. It failed repeatedly in italy and hitler used a portion of the resources he raped from the countries he invaded to rescue mussolini repeatedly. Hitler and mussolini were both massive failures who only lasted as long as they did by stealing resources at the barrel of a gun. This is the method every major empire has used throughout history and it requires that the subjugated nations people be made defacto slaves for the conquering nation.

Also please note that gun control isnt a left right issue historically it is a class issue. The US had stringent gun control for non white non males. The european aristocracies had it for non-nobles (despite what you see in the movies a peasant or surf - most of humanity - could not own a broadsword). The same was true in china and japan hence "martial arts". One of the first things hitler did was ban gun ownership.. for people he didnt like. He was fine with the browshirt criminals owning them.

If youre going to speak of politics publicly where you can be refuted rather than far right wing blogs where you can spout gibberish to people who will agree with any lie you should make certain you get your facts straight.

BTW last i checked it was the corporations who were destroying this country.. backed by republicans and right wingers.. not "socialists".

I though carrying in a commercial vehicle was illegal By federal law? Plus unless you drive local, most permits are not valid after crossing state lines. So what good s that law to begin with?

Default Carrying in a commercial vehicle.

I would love to be able to carry as a solo driver also. But there are federal law issues, crossing state line issues, and if you cross into Canada or Mexico even more issues. Driving a flatbed, I had a need to carry a knife, not for protection but for purpose of cutting a securement device such as ratchet straps. Had one come loose on me one time and get wrapped up in one of my trailer axles. Needed to cut it out. But ever time I cross into Canada, they ask if I have any, and when you answer yes they want to know why? Now of coarse this doubles as a self defense tool, but I also have two tire beaters that I would not hesitate to hand out some lumps if I needed to! Does anyone know what the actual federal laws of carrying in a commercial motor vehicle are. Everyone has an opinion, but a lot is spoken in ignorance. Facts people, I'm looking for facts!

My local DOT guy said it's not against federal law to carry in a commercial vehicle. Crossing state lines is a problem if you're permit doesn't follow you. Some states like UT and FL cover anywhere from 10-20 states.

On other boards people have said if they are in a state their permit doesn't cover they unload the weapon and put it somewhere out of reach. Kind of like putting it in your trunk. I don't know if anyone has ever had it challenged in court.

There is a Senator that is proposing making CCW's nationwide.
