Default What company do you get your health insurance from?

I'm looking to see what plans are out there.
I know none are great but looking for one that is reasonable and fair.
    Reasonable cost for reasonable benefits.

I think I used einsurance.com but I ended up with GoldenRule which is from United Healthcare. It was $186 a month and was a good plan. We get it free now from the wife's work.

BCBS Blue Advantage - Rates are high but not as high as United Healthcare. I am reallygoing to watch this thread as the rates for my family are killing me. Thinking about going with an HSA come January.

One thing you need to keep in mind with health insurance is to make sure it is readily accepted by many doctors and hospitals.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

    BCBS

I'd suggest refraining from filling out any quote forms online- I did that recently when I was shopping around for a better rate and I've been overwhelmed with spam in my inbox- netquotes was the offending site.

We used to have our health insurance through OOIDA but they underwrite for a no-name insurance company (it HAS a name, but no one has heard of it) and the rates just kept going up and up and they changed my deductible from $1000 to $2500 and the rate was the same- they did it without my permission.

I looked around and BCBS was actually $100/month LESS than what I was paying through OOIDA. This was a few years ago.

I pay $547 per month for a single policy with BCBS PPO plan. I think the HMO is $35 cheaper. I can go to any doctor any time I want without permission.

Try Farm Bureau. They have pretty good rates by catering to the agriculture community. Anyone can be a member for about $40 a year and have access to some pretty decent buying power on insurance. They work thru a number of insurance companies including BCBS.

At least an option you can look at.
