Hello all,
Just thought I would drop a few lines about my time at CRST so far. This will not be a journal but just some of my experiences as I go through them. In June I went to Show Me the Road Trucking School in Sikeston, MO. I already have a CDL but had to go to school to get my 160 hours. This place was just a CDL mill. The people for the most part were ok but the equipment sucked. After three weeks I got out of there and went to Cedar Rapides, IA for a four day orientation at the end of which I was hired. Eight month contract by the way. I hung out at the motel for a couple of days till I got with a trainer. July 1 I was picked up by my trainer and was in for a four week trip. Here is where the story gets a little interesting. I thought when they hooked you up with a trainer this person was suppose to train you in certain areas (city driving, mountain driving, etc.). Well I was in for a shock, from day one my trainer would get into the sleeper and stay. The four weeks I was out I trained myself while this guy gets paid all the miles, while I'm on $350.00 a week salary. I would have raised this issue with dispatch but figured I would get someone worse than this guy was. Anyway, I made it through training being self taught in Mountains, city, backing and most everything else I could learn. If I say so myself I think I did one fine job. I drove a little over 8000 miles in four weeks coast to coast I didn't kill anyone or have an accident so I guess not bad for a newbie. I'm on home time right now and when I go back I will be teamed up with someone to run with. This should be interesting; I just hope he is better than the trainer was. I have seven months left on my contract and then see what I do from there. Stay an extra four months so I have a year under my belt or what. I chose truck driving for a career and plan to stick with it. All I can really say is this next year is going to be real interesting. I will post from time to time to let everyone see how I am progressing and what they are doing at CRST. Until then, be safe out on the road ogun67

Doesn't sound like anything has changed over at Sikeston then. The place used to be called CDTA untill the state shut them down for issuing license's without proper testing.
When I attended a little over seven years ago they had good trainers and an intense training program but that went downhill not too long after I graduated, shame too.

I don't care if he sleeps alone or not. I look out for myself, and if I come out with somethimg for myself it will be how to run for myself and make a good dollar. The problem is I can put up with a lot more than most people can handle, and that freaks most people out.

With all the negative feedback CRST gets on the boards I'm surprised anybody would drive for them.
