Women in Trucking Names Best Companies For Lady Truckers

By: ClassADrivers.com

Women in Trucking (WIT) recently revealed their list for “Top Companies For Women to Work For in Transportation.” This annual award is generated to promote practices for trucking companies to encourage more women to join the industry in a safe environment. Let’s take a look at which companies made the list this year and why.

How Women in Trucking Determines Winners

Women in Trucking, a non-profit organization promoting women in the industry, was founded by Ellen Voie in 2007. A year later, Voie established the “Top Companies for Women to Work For in Transportation” Award. Since then, trucking companies across the board have been recognized for taking proactive steps to diversify the industry.

According to Brian Everett, Redefining the Road Publisher, there are quite a few metrics trucking companies must meet to make the list. Some of the requirements are listed below:

  • Gender diversity
  • Proactive corporate culture
  • Awesome and equal compensation
  • Competitive benefits
  • Flexible schedules
  • Safe work requirements
  • Ample room for career advancement
  • Be involved in commercial freight transportation

Using the criteria above, over 13,000 people voiced their opinion in the 2020 vote.

Everett highlighted the importance of the annual event saying, “The sheer number of individuals in the industry who participated in the process underscores the importance practitioners in the industry place on this award.”
