Todd’s Public Comment:

My name is Todd Anderson I am the owner of S & T Bulk Transport LLC. A single truck operation running a 39′ End Dump.

I’ve been doing this for nearly 15 years and have driven over 1500000 miles accident free. At 50 years old understanding this industry far better than those of you who continue to push one regulation after another with the idea that its about safety.

Many of us simply know better. I actually work harder and under more stress with an ELD. I support OOIDA’s drive for ELD exemption and actually believe there are a couple of simple fixes to the mandate that many who oppose could get behind.

Either extend the 14 hour rule to 16 hours or give us the ability to control the clock in instances where we are at the shipper or receiver for 3 or 4 hours or interstate shut downs for accidents or weather. 

It’s all about safety. stop giving drivers licenses away. You want to regulate something the 3 week Truck Driving School where I know for a fact its all about the money everyone graduates. Mandate all Manufacturers have a disabling of text messaging and social media features on devices while in motion. There’s plenty you could do if you could just find the political will.

Anyway I really hope there is a serious evaluation of the regulation. It is not making things safer. you know it and I know it.
