Trucking companies desperately want to hire more drivers. The high-demand for drivers has led companies to raise wages, add new benefits, and change schedules to provide a better home/life balance for their employees.

In order to attract drivers to these new benefits, Schneider has a novel new plan. Schneider has begun advertising real-life trucking jobs inside virtual trucking jobs.

American Truck Simulator is a video game (available now on Steam) that allows players to take on the role of a CDL driver. The website for the game advertises that the player can “drive the most famous American trucks and deliver various cargoes across the United States”. The player can also witness “breathtaking and iconic landmarks” across the country.

This sounds fun, but players still won’t get to experience the true open road, the real vistas of America, nor a pretty solid paycheck. When players shut off the game, they’ll still be in their living room or bedroom.

If players want to find the real benefits of driving, they’ll have to follow the in-game billboards that direct players to the recruiting website for Schneider National.

This new advertising push is still being tested, according to the game’s developer SCS Software. If the American campaign is successful, then the developer may bring similar advertisements to their more-popular Euro Truck Simulator franchise.

This is not the first real -lifecompany partnership for the SCS Software and American Truck Simulator. They also partner with truck manufacturers like Western Star to include real vehicle models inside the game.

Fortunately, players who decide to take their skills to the real world will still have to get their CDL, no matter how many hours they have logged in the video game.

But those interested in a well-paying trucking job don’t have to wait. Aspiring drivers can sign up on Class A Drivers and create a driver profile to find a new job today.
