Winter Road Safety Tips from Truckers
With a record number of travelers expected to hit the road this holiday season the American Trucking Associations (ATA) offered 11 safety tips for dangerous winter road conditions. The advice which came from “a team of million mile accident-free drivers are helping to make our roads safer” warned motorists not to cut in front of large trucks and not use cell phones while driving. Navistar Recalls Thousands of ProStar Trucks
Navistar is recalling over 2800 ProStar sleeper cab vehicles. The 2013/14 model year trucks have an issue with the rear chassis skirt upper horizontal support S-bracket which may rub against the fuel tank and rupture the tank.
Senator Introduces Bill to overturn 34-hour Restart Provision
CDL Life reported “The bill states that drivers should be allowed to operate under the 34-hour restart rule that was in place before the July 1 change and that the Government Accountability Office should conduct an independent assessment of the FMCSA’s methodology that was used to come up with the 34-hour restart rule.”
Good Year or Good Riddance to 2013?
More Americans rated 2013 positively than negatively compared to 2012 according to a new Associated Press survey. 32% said 2013 was better than 2012 20% said it was worse and 46% said it was about the same. However the outlook for 2014 is positive with 49% expecting a better year 34% think it will be much the same and only 20% fear things will get worse.
