Every year, the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) asks the trucking industry for their input on the most pressing problems and topics facing our business. The 2025 Top Industry Issues Survey can be filled out by anyone in the industry, from company CEOs to dispatchers to truck drivers.
The ATRI is a part of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and provides valuable data for the industy.
If you are interested in sharing your thoughts, please find the survey here. You h ave until October 10th to fill out your responses. There are a number of preset choices to rank, as well as an open field to share any additional issues that may not be listed.
Let’s look back at the results of last year’s survey:

Truck parking being at the top of the list is no surprise. This is a critical safety issue for drivers. We will see if some of the additional funding that has gone to building more parking has made a dent for 2025.
Driver compensation is also a big one. For drivers, wages remain the #1 determination for which trucking company to sign up with… or even whether to continue in the industry at all. Fortunately, many companies are listening and are also offering more benefits and bonuses to boost recruitment.

For carriers looking at demand from their customers, current rates, shifting uncertainties like tariffs, and other concerns, having “the economy” as the top concern makes a lot of sense.
