Lincoln, NE (February 28, 2013) – Crete Carrier and Shaffer Trucking are proud to announce a pay package increase for Independent Contractors and Fleet Owners. The pay increase includes both loaded and empty miles. The pay for loaded miles increases $.03 - $.06 per practical mile depending on trip length, and empty miles increased $.16 per practical mile.
Additionally, Crete and Shaffer will continue to pay a fuel surcharge keeping costs at or below $1 per gallon.
"Owner Operators and small to medium-size fleet owners have always been an integral part of the Crete Carrier family of companies. It would be difficult to find a more honest, real, and successful Owner Operator business in the trucking industry," said Tim Aschoff, Vice President of Risk Management at Crete Carrier Corporation. "This compensation increase recognizes our loyal and hardworking Independent Contractors and Fleet Owners for the outstanding work that they do for our customer base. In addition to the pay increase we will also continue subsidy payments to offset high fuel prices, IRAs, equipment purchase plans, and other favorable Owner Operator programs that are geared to ensure Owner success."
