Default Check ENGINE light is on (2000 Freightliner)

Hello,

I got a call today from my driver that the check engine light is on in my truck (2000 Freightliner w/ a Cummins engine). Can anyone tell me what could be the problem (I know with cars normally its related to a sensor), or anyway to figure out what is wrong with it on my own (how to bring up the codes), or do I need to take it to the repair shop?

Thanks in advance..

Also wanted to add truck seems to be running fine (no idle/performance problems), oil pressure and all temp gauges are within normal range.

celect plus engine?

if the check engine light is currently on, you can display fault codes by;

turn the key switch off. press the diagnostic switch and hold it down. turn the key switch to the on (not crank) position. then release the diagnostic switch. this will start the codes flashing using the engine light
