You're right, it is very interesting.
Kind of validates my contention that if you buy a quality oil, you don't need to add any of those "snake oil" additives to it.
I've always felt that since I do not have a college degree in lubrication engineering it's best that I don't tamper with the formulation of something as important as engine oil or gear oil.
Over the years I have never used any additives, other than anti gel in the fuel during the winter.

Perhaps "Bob" does have a hidden agenda, but I still believe that adding extra additives to an already properly formulated quality lubricant is unnecessary, a waste of money, and potentially harmful as it can upset the chemistry of the oil.
As I said previously I never used any of that stuff, and the company I'm working for now doesn't use them either, and believe me, the company I'm at now is very stringent about proper maintenance, and if there were any benefits to oil additives, they'd be using them.

Yup, tried it, came up with nothing.
Even if the guy is biased, he has good points. Hell, he even uses their method of "testing".

i have not used lucas oil treamtment in a while. i used to though. to be honest . i dont know if it is good or not. but one time i added 2 gallons of the oil treatment when i serviced the truck. 14,000 miles later when i changed oil. it was black. real black as usual. didnt look any different than when i didnt use the treatment, but his time i wanted to use just a little of the old oil to lubricate some rusty chains i had. that old oil was like a liquid web. i thought no way after 14,000 miles that there would be any evidence that there was still something there in the oil. now having said that.. i still cant say if this stuff is worth putting in or not. i have no idea. but that oil sure was snotty & adhered to my hands like a snott..

I'm not a truck mechanic
but I know that it's going to coat your oil passages with protective substances of some sort and that is going to make those passages smaller, put more strain on your oil pump and other parts and might even cause your newer engine tolerances to change. Might be good for older engines though. I personally am not going to start eating a slab of bacon for breakfast every day in an effort to put a protective coating on my arteries.
