Speaking of good old Karns City, PA, I'll be up there myself later tonight to grab a load in the a.m. since Baltimore has nothing. And as usual, Grandpa is running away since he left out earlier today. Getting scared of those 3" hose overhead presses aren't ya! We can always just grab a wheel like back at Garden City in the early days and do that since it's a lot lighter... :crossbones: :moon:
Yeah, uh-huh....right, whatever.......:smokin::moon::moon::smokin:

Hey "Slacker boy".....you wanna talk about pressing rims? I could've used your excessive energy levels yesterday and today..... had to hump 7 big ass batteries from the store to the pickemup, then down the dock and onto the boat, then down into the salon, and then into the generator compartment, ......after dismantling the wiring harnesses for the house bank and the generator.....then hump those 7 bad batteries out of the boat back up to the pickemup, then put the 7 down into their compartments, reinstall the harnesses, and take the cores back to the store...... Each of the batteries weighed at least 75 lbs each....which isn't all that much....but when you consider where they were, and where they had to go.... I could've used your "excessive energy levels" to make my life easy.....but you were probably laying around somewhere eating ice cream.........:p:p:p

Just happy this only happens every few years.......

67-68-69 mph Depends on what truck you are assigned.

Hawkjr 05-21-2009 06:03 PM

lol naw i didn't mean that slow.. i meant slow as in work/freight??

plus i think i live to far from a terminal.. i live 20 miles west of richmond.. and i the closest ones are Baltimore, and a few in NC..

I'm searching for a Tank company, i just got my Hazmat (well once it past the background check) and Tanker endorsement.. I'm going to try Atlantic Bulk Carriers out of in my neck of the woods but i'm not expecting much of anything tho..

But again, that damn Blue International just caught my eye and i was in love lol

Some terminals have work at this time (like @ Kankakee...), yet some/most still don't seem to right now. Maybe part of the reason I'm keeping busy is the fact that I'm staying out extremely long periods of time with minimal time off, especially compared to other drivers who are going home on each and every weekend.

A friend of mine had sent me a pic of one up at Markham a couple of months back. Thought they were acquiring bigger sleepers for y'all to use??? Looks like it's still the tiny, raised-roof coffin sleeper we're all used to. Okay, so I'm going to make a small (no pun intended) dig at the company. Notice how a lot of the other chemical tank companies who used to use small sleepers are upgrading to larger ones, yet with the exception of the experimental Volvos, we're still buying coffins? E.G. would be Rogers Cartage (International 51" midroof up to 72"), TSC (seeing more 60" Volvo's up from 42" in their Chemical fleet), Highway Transport (Mack 70" midroof up from 42" flat-top), and of course, Schneider has been running 70" extra-tall midroofs for years now)

Not that it really matters to me.......

Anyone know how far you got to live from a Terminal?? is 100 miles acceptable??

Don't know for sure. It may be tightening up. Pete C was turned down at 180 out and he had 20+ years experience. I had heard 120 when I started but only from message boards.

They had one in Markham a few months ago. Nice sled.

I heard R&H, Kankakee went to that drab, dirty, rotten pumpkin looking Orange.

First message I send when I leave the home terminal - I don't need to be home for a month. Doesn't seem to work.

It wasn't really the weight...its where they were....and it took a three step process to get them out of the generator compartment...and then had to carry them off the boat..... Wish I had taken pictures....might take some just to show how much fun it was....

Man that's light!
Maybe, but sit on the ground and lift the weight with your elbows straight out....up out of a box as tall as the batteries.... Yep, I got some sore muscles....took 7 out and put 7 back and relocated another....big 4D.....

And eating ice cream? Man, you have me mistaken for someone else!
You know you like "Moose Tracks"......

Got a question. How does tank wash pay work? I was asked to stay with a wash today for the first time instead of dropping it. It took 2.5 hours. Are we paid for the entire amount of time or is it like unloading and loading where we get a flat rate then hourly after the first 2 hours?

Rob, sorry been away for awhile, been tending to other things. Yes, just like load pay it's supposed to be flat $20 then hourly after 2 hours...

No problem. Haven't turned it in yet anyway. I just figured everyone was running pretty hard. I know I have. Back to back 3000+ mile weeks. Unloaded today in Thomasville Ga and just got tankwashed home. Stopped to take a shower and when I got back to the truck had a different Tankwash message for N Charleston. Called Scott in High Point to make sure it wasn't a mistake and he told me to come on home that he needed to use me there.

They wanted to load me for somewhere in Lousiana. Anyone else noticing the system picking up or is it just luck of the draw.

It has picked up, but it's still a crap shoot. Don't insult companies that have real operational and management systems by referring to Superior's cluster fudge as a system.

Superior is becoming the TMC of tanker outfits!

Everyone else get the memo yet?

Whats it say? I am on home time until Sunday-Monday.

Cyanide 06-18-2009 09:05 AM

Here's what we received in Kankakee.....

TRACTOR CLEANLINESS
Starting immediately we will be performing random spot checks of your equipment. Your truck will be inspected for cleanliness along with maintenance while in your presence. It is required that that your truck and appearance represents Superior Carriers. In the event your truck's appearance does not meet our standards, you will then be required to clean the unit before you are dispatched. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary actions. All garbage must be disposed of. Clutter inside the truck will need to be organized. Side box and fittings box will need to be clean and organized. During the random inspection the shop supervisor will follow up with you on how to do a proper pre- and post-trip inspection.

DRIVER APPEARANCE
It is Superior Carriers policy that all drivers are to wear a company uniform while on-duty. Company issued uniforms along with work boots and good hygiene is a must when picking up and delivering to our customers. We have received multiple complaints that the company uniform policy is not being followed. Failure to follow this policy will result in disciplinary actions. If you are eligible to receive uniforms please see us and we will order them.

During the inspection of the cab and truck's side boxes (utilizing a fancy little printed out checklist) we checked the permits and registration, fire extinguisher level and secured, accident kit, and emergency triangles (good ideas), but get this; we aren't supposed to have our air hose secured to the catwalk??? Who DOESN"T have their hose secured there? The exterior of the truck is to be clean as well? Hmmmm, kinda difficult since Blue Beacon got taken away! After I had my inspection done yesterday one of our I/C's had to do this as well, so it's not just company drivers getting hit with it. I tell ya, this schitt's gotten too deep around here! Seems like SBL is doing everything they can to make drivers say f*** it and leave!

My questions....
-How in the he11 is this going to help lower our SAFESTAT score, which just went from a 70 to a 71 after this last audit?

-We constantly hear about how the company must run more efficiently and save money here and there, yet we are taking shipment for all of these new International ProStars, albeit with the same size sleepers/storage space that we've had for years?

-How long before they start charging the individual company driver for usage of the PrePass, IPass/EZPass, and our Ohio Toll Card?

I can probably come up with more but to he11 with it!

:pissedoff:

wsyrob 06-18-2009 09:49 AM

Hmmm. I will keep you posted if this happens in High Point. I did see some memos about the safe stat score. Did that come from your terminal manager or higher up? I also haven't seen anything about Blue Beacon being taken away. In fact I used them 2 weeks ago and plan to continue to wash my truck once a month until they tell me not to. It could be that different terminal managers are doing different things.

Cyanide 06-18-2009 10:37 AM

Blue Beacon...

According to Kankakee/Markham, we're no longer authorized to use them anymore. Really looks like these two yards are marching to the beat of their own drum, and trying to pass it off as company-wide policy. I know from the past, when I ran out of Savannah and then Westville, we didn't have anywhere near the amount of silly schitt going on that happens out of the Chicago-area yards.

Oh well, it won't matter in a couple of weeks anyways...

They started the Blue Beacon ban months ago. The exterior can turn pumpkin orange for all I care. I keep my living quarters clean, the exterior is SBL's problem. I saw some memo about speeding tickets and log violations being unacceptable - what a stroke of genuis. Why not concentrate on the chronic violators instead of p!ss!ing off everyone. Pre/post-trip pay will be the next thing to disappear.

****cago was also the first term to get rid of direct billing at the motel.

Just another trucking company.

Grinder..... What's up?!?!? Any updates for you? Let's not forget the other item; that they would rather deadhead a driver from halfway across the country back to their home terminal instead of paying a day of layover and/or waiting for a load. :eek1:

Jay and Rob..... Man, y'all got it all wrong. I'll see those silly statements and raise you a cheap outfit where I can have that big chicken truck whoop whoop!
