In May this year, the assistant terminal manager at the Crete Wilmer terminal told me that the lenght of haul was going to drop, and I would be spending more time and more time in the Midwest, meaning more unpaid time logged on line four, and still having problems getting home when needed.

And since my home in Texas was just outside the zone, Mid South regional was out of the question.

Add to this his comment that dispatch was not required to get a driver home, only to keep them moving, I realized it was time for a change.
home daily, and know who cooks my meals.

Care to explain your statement about dispatch not being required to get drivers home? That's pure bullsh*t. And as far as avg length of haul is concerned, mine has been increasing for the last 6 months. For the month of August it was nearly 1100 miles.

I have nothing concrete....but I heard from someone that....while the deal is in place...with the DOT, it turns out that since the FMCSA/DOT pretty much ignored Congress's concerns.....the funding for the project got pulled, so that will pretty much prevent anything from happening. We'll have to see what pans out shortly.....

Then the next time you pass thru Wilmer, be sure to tell Zac he is full of it, because those are his words, not mine, although I doubt he will remember back to May.

But when many drivers have a problem getting home, even for vacation, like the driver I met in SLC who lost over $3000.00 in travel reservations because Crete would not get him home in time for vacation.

Or the driver living in Iowa who was told by his terminal manager to get sick on his home time, because he would not be routed home for a medical appointment.

I have been within 150 miles of home, with an appointment and home request on the truck, only to be sent 900 miles in the wrong direction.

You seem to find every thing about Crete to be picture perfect. Question, are you really a driver?

I've been at Schneider for a while. Usually when there's a pay increase, they take money out of another area. They don't believe in giving money away ya know.

Ask yourself this: with the economy in the doldrums and lots of rate-cutting going on, how is it that SNI is able to raise prices to offset the supposed pay increase?

These mega-haulers are experts at robbing Peter to pay Paul - they've been doing it for years. When all the shells get moved around on the carny table, you're looking at the same money or less. And last I looked, prices aren't going DOWN in the stores.

so now you're a Schneider authority?

If they're offering a pay increase, that means they have to offset that expense somewhere else on the balance sheet. Ah, but where? Fuel? Nope. Can they raise prices? Best o' luck with that one in this market. So where is the money coming from to fund these payraises?
