Go get your refresher and keep bugging them. I've been told that if you keep on 'em they will get you in quicker. The 2-3 months waiting for a trainer doesn't sound right at all to me. 2-3 weeks from the day you start orientation...maybe...but 2-3 months I would have to see to believe. I do know they were short on trainers at one time, but it still don't add up to 2-3 months.
Get your refresher and stay after 'em! Arky |
Well, I'm about to give up on Maverick. I'm getting the run around from them. They seem to be put off about me having been self-employed (in the construction industry) for the last 10 years.
I don't know why but can assume its one of two things: 1) they must get a lot of 'self-employed' types who are actually lying about it in order to cover a spotty work history; 2) they're afraid that as soon as they get me trained I'll buy my own truck and off I'll go. As for the first concern, I'm getting a notorized letter from my construction lender stating I have been a builder with them since 1997. If Maverick wants to dig deeper, I could also get them statements from the bank showing that I recently had three spec houses foreclosed upon and that my credit is shot (and bankrupcy is looming); which would allay their second concern. I've called back twice to get them to email me the 'release' papers (whatever those are) to fill out and sign but they have failed both times to follow up. I think instead of calling and prodding them again I'll just apply at TMC. Hopefully, they won't have the same reluctance to hire somebody with a proven track record of self-motivation and bootstrapping. I'm bound and determined not to spend this summer sweating my a$$ off driving nails on a steep roof 25 feet off the ground. I have a finance degree but after spending the better part of the last 18 years being my own boss I don't think I could sit in a cubicle all day. |

Dixie, all you'll need for Maverick or TMC is the letter that you are referring to. I was self-employed also for a few years as a sales rep, but I primarily sold for one company, with a little direct business. I got a letter from that company stating that I was a sales rep from such and such date to another and that was all they needed. This letter is what both TMC and Maverick told me they would need and it got me the pre-hire from both. I would say, go this route and send it in and you'll probably get a call right back.
Good luck. |
I had a restaurant and did consulting on and off. All I did for TMC is provide tax returns for those years.

And I wouldn't mind giving them tax returns either, its just that twice now they told me on the phone they would email the documents to me to get things rolling. Until they do I have no email address to submit tax returns and notorized letters to.

Anyone else new been on this wait ?
2-3Months to see an orientation? From what I'm hearing on here is some people wait that long to get into there CDL school.   BUT i have my CDL class A    Another thing is another fellow on here "Rontwo" just finnished gettting his CDL today, and he has a Orientation set for the 19'th of this month. He will be going for Specialized Division in NC. Guess sense im not going with Specialized Division, and going to Little Rock ill have to wait it out. |
I went through Maverick's orientation and training beginning of Oct. 2006 and they could not tell me when I would get a trainer. They were short on trainers. There were 6-7 guys ahead of me waiting on trainers. I think they are still short on trainers now. I just couldn't wait any longer so I came back home and got a job elsewhere. I will say this, they are a top notch company. I have nothing bad to say about them at all. I wish they could have somehow told me how long till I would have gotten a trainer, I may have stayed in Little Rock a little longer.

Im not sure if it will help the time line of when they will take you or not but you never know. Seems that a lot of folks go flatbed so maybe specialized will get you in sooner. I was told by my recruiter that if at a later time I wanted to switch to the other division I could do that with no problem. Hope this helps clear a few things up.. BOL |
