Well said von. And VERY true. In 7 months I've "made" just $700.00 from recruiting. That doesn't even pay for my time I've spent on my website.

I sent a few emails asking for a application and never got a response.
Called and talk to someone named CJ and asked several questions about the company but she didn't know any answers cause she was new. It has been two weeks since I talked to her and asked for a application. Never heard or received anything from them, Makes me wonder about them now. I am still interested in driving flatbed. I guess I will look somewere else. From everything I've read maybe try TMC!

Ok, question we haven't been easily able to find the answer to(short of asking a recruiter). Does Maverick pay practical miles? Thanks.

Hey, I put in an application on-line in August, Was asked for additional info which was sent within a week. Sent several e-mails to the recruiter with no answer. I promised not to pester them so the frequency of request for status were in week to 10 day increments. I finally called and was asked for info that was not pertinent to my work history. I explained and they understood. Again silence, called and e-mailed again 10 days later.. Silence... Called again 10 days later was asked for same info again.. Is the right hand talking with the left?? I was patient and explained again.. They said they had it all in-line.. Silence... It has taken 6 -e-mails, 6 phone calls, and still no answer to date. I had one DUI in Sept 1992. on my record only... It was on the application, I hid nothing still no answer.. I can handle NO, or MAYBE, and particularily YES but no answer is a sign of poor coordination and organization. I do find this surprising based on the good rep the company has..I have my Class A with all endorsements but haven't driven for about a year since school.. All I was looking for was a chance!!! At least deserve an answer...

Understand I know nothing about flat-bedding, but when you swap a trailer don't the tie-down equipment and tarps go with it?

So if your tie-down gear and tarps are clean and neat, and the other driver is a slob and his gear is muddy, dirty and unkempt . . . you just got the slob's gear?

Something doesn't sound right about that. Can you explain further?

Swapping trailers SUCKS BIG TIME. Why?
You may get the other guys muddy, torn, old tarps.
His worn straps, rusty chains, weak bungees, and rusted winches.
I kept my stuff TOP NOTCH and/or "acquired" better stuff over time and became "fond" of MY stuff.

You have to MEET each other SOMEPLACE which means ONE of you will be waiting for HOURS or at best, both forced to "get somewhere at a specific time" just to meet, which to me, is the same as making a delivery, except you're not being paid for the stop or the waiting or the aggravation of getting there on time. Then there is the labor of moving all your equipment from one truck to the other and vice verse, this too done for "free". If it's 100 degrees out or 15 degrees out or its raining or snowing, THIS SUCKS TOO.

If that's what's done on a fairly regular basis. They can keep their LONG runs. I'll stick to my shorter runs, deliver them on my own, run percentage pay, and STILL wax their butts at the end of the year on my W-2.

Yup, that's what you're stuck with. I don't know from experience what Maverick's policy about that is, but at Arrow it was left up to the discretion of the two drivers involved in the swap. For us though, if the equipment you got looked horrible, you could always turn it in for better equipment as soon as you hit one of the terminals. Since I was usually through a terminal area every few days, I didn't care to do an equipment swap unless it looked unsafe to travel with what was on the load already. It saved me a good bit of re-securement of my loads.

Stop at a terminal??? Switch out securement stuff???

MORE work, ANOTHER stop, NO ADDITIONAL PAY. STILL SUCKS.

I'm saved re-securement of MY loads by not having to swap trailers too often in the FIRST place.
