So you are saying that Maverick pays for your CDL school up front and your housing and school while you are in CDL school?

TMC pays for your school, @ $100 per month, while you are employed with them. While at the two week orientation, they provide housing, lunches for the first week, transportaion to and from orientation, access to transportation after classes.

Being the smart company that Maverick is, I would doubt that they work fork over driving school money BEFORE they determined you were going to make it. Or if so, they get it back if you don't pass, quit, or get fired.

I think he's talking about the fact Maverick has their own CDL school.

Well They do. You go to Little Rock on a Sunday, Do your DOT physical and drug test then you have to take the Maverick wellness test. If you make it though Sunday they send you to Newport for school. Maverick pays for everything (School, housing, transportation) while you are at Newport. After completing CDL school you return to Little Rock for orientation. Maverick has its own hotel on campus with curtsey vehicles for ya to use and they have a catered lunch for the drivers during orientation. To top it all off a student driver only has to agree to stay with Maverick for SIX months and never have to pay a dime.

In my opinion that is much better than paying for your school on your own and then waiting to get it back at a rate of $100 a month.

Maverick does not have their own CDL school right now. They have a contract with Arkansas State University in Newport AR.

Deere29's description of the Maverick program is accurate, it costs the driver nothing but food. I also heard during orientation that they might be building their own school there in L.R. I know their starting a lot of new construction all around the terminal. If they do start their own school, it will more than likely be a lot tougher than ASU/Newport, but also better. So far, I can only call it a rumor.

Either way it sounds like a good deal.

Deere29 11-05-2006 01:48 AM

Yeah I do agree with ya there. Both are good companies to work for.

Missed that little detail...ooops!

Still...it's a GOOD deal for folks not prepared to pay out-of-pocket.

I paid NOTHING for my CDL school up front. TMC sponsored my training and contributes monthly to the tuition/loan payments for me. My up front cost was nothing.

How long do you have to stay with TMC before it is all paid for? Maverick is just six months
