I personally run Houston to west Texas and back. For me it's profitable enough that I am in the process of buying a truck to lease onto the company and continue the same runs that I have been making for 2 years.
Many linehaulers can even tell you that you can get stuck in Texas for weeks at a time.

Man. I live in Houston and you guys are making it harder and harder not to consider making the jump. Getting home sure wouldn't be a problem no matter what division I was in.

Oh, I know how to get in touch with TMC.

I'm happy with my current driving job here in Houston . . . But the question is would I be happier at TMC.

I've been reading these posts and have thought about it too. I live on the west side of Houston but have to drive to Pasadena everyday for work. I like the company I'm with but the drive is getting a bit much with gas around $4 a gallon. Does TMC have a yard in Houston?

Seems to be a lot of bitter TMC drivers out there for one reason or another . Is everyone over there unhappy and antisocial ?

Really, I've seen two or three posting their unhappy negative thoughts and many, many more positive happy TMC drivers posting.

Care to elaborate! Or possibly share reliable sources! If not for my family and community service activities, I would definitely be back with TMC!

TMC gives a driver ever opportunity to be successful! Great equipment, typically (oh, bout 80%) well trained dispatchers, and plenty of freight!

Those drivers that claim to be unhappy or as you put it, antisocial, typically would have the same attitudes and outlooks, no matter what company they were working for!

Research has found that a good portions of negative posts on this site, about TMC - either have never worked for TMC, would not qualify to work for TMC, or job hoppers, that are never happy no matter where they are!

Once I found one individual, that had posted negatively about 14 different companies (that I found), claiming to have worked for all of them, within a 3 month period! Yes, I was extremely bored that particular day, and the character got under my skin!

Have a great weekend driver!

He may be refering to the ones that you hear and see out on the road. I have talked with a number of TMC drivers and some have said it was a good place to work and some say it wasn't. But whose to say who is right.

I talked to one the other day at the fuel stop in Seguin, that had just spent a couple of hours loading over at Berridge! That place can be a pain, but the loads usually pay well!

He was griping! And his gripe was that his fleet manager is an idiot! Hmm!! How many times have we heard this?

Anyway, long story short, when I asked him how much he was taking home each week and his home time, this was his answer!

Average take home was around $1200, and that was as hard as he wanted to work! He was getting home every weekend, usually Friday night, and heading out on Sunday evening! This driver lived in the DFW area, and somehow his FM always gets him into DFW with a Friday morning load, and always has a pre-plan out of Tamko, he is usually home by 3 pm Friday. His TAMKO load delivers in the Valley area! This guy pretty much had a dedicated (sort of) loop, that kept him in a 4 state area!

Sheeesh, I would come back for sure if I had that pattern, as he was in Seguin on Wednesday, almost every week!

Wow, I said, that is not bad at all! So how is your fleet manager an idiot?

Uhhhh, well, he could not define the statement!

Hmm, how many times does this happen! Anyhow, most of the time it is a discipline thing, or the driver just had a load that took forever to get on or off, or he/she is just having a bad day!

We should have all learned by now, to take what you hear on the Chicken band with a grain of salt and 2 motrin!

Good day!

Louis

1st load

Well, I went tested out and got my truck this week. 81229. Overall it was a pretty uneventful week though tested Monday and wasn't able to get a load until Thursday morning. Thats mainly because my truck wasn't ready until Wendsday afternoon. My Fleet manager has only been doing this for like 5 weeks, so I guess we will figure this out together as we go along. My first load was out of alcoa just south of Davenport Ia. It was a 2 stop load to Pittsburgh. My second stop was at Ryerson, I also picked up my next load there, its going up to Connecticut. That delivers Monday and I already have a preload out of there down to miss. So far my FM is doing ok i think. I was expecting them to give me short runs, until I "got my feet wet". thats what i was told would happen, but so far I have gotten regular linehaul loads from what I can tell. They have all paid ok so far. ok now I need to go get my truck set up and get everything organized.
