Thanks for the info. I see that TMC is not for me.

Their pay package is too secretive for me. Too many code words like bounce and snapshot. Call it what it is, deadhead and a performance review. This SCREAMS to me like hey, come here and work for a month and we will decide what to pay you. Don't like "misc" either, usually translates into you are gonna get screwed.

To be honest I know nothing about TMC other than what I have read on their website and this thread. I do not know or have talked to any of their drivers

I have pulled reefer for a long time and have recently looked in either flatbed or tanker work because hometime would be better. I am not willing to take a chance that I can do as good as the .45 cpm that I am getting paid now, pay will have to written into stone from day 1.

didnt i see on their job listing that they have a 650$ weekly guarantee and then the performance percentage for new and vetran drivers that kicks in and how do you now how much the load is. cant quite figure out the percentage thing seems like you would be in the dark about your pay.

Here's how it worked for me. Once I got empty, my fleet manager would call me and discuss potential loads with me. Origin, destination, type of freight and what the load paid "to the truck" to deliver. Then I would choose which load I wanted. I was at 28% so I made 28% of what the load paid TMC plus $10.00 if tarping was required, $100.00 more if it was being delivered to NYC's five boroughs etc...
Almost all drivers are at 27% or higher. You'd have to be dead or VERY lazy to be lower than that.

No secrets...

Certification is measured every 30 days and points are earned based on a driver’s MPG, OOR, and Revenue.

A driver must earn 60 points to be certified. Drivers are eligible for certification after 1 full month in their own truck.

MPG - MPG is measured every 30 days. MPG is based on exact gallons used.

OOR - OOR is measured every 30 days. OOR is total dispatched miles, loaded and empty, versus total odometer
miles driven.

Revenue - Revenue is based on a 13-week rolling average once the driver accumulates 13 weeks of revenue.
Prior to accruing 13 weeks, the average is calculated on the actual number of weeks worked.

Drivers with 1, 2 and 3 or more years of service are guaranteed base pay percentages of 24%, 25% or 26% respectively.

Other stuff:
Credit is given for a safe month, appearance points, taking TQM (a great training program that the company offers 1 month after being in your own truck.), a self-taught program called Road Scholar, clean DOT inspections.

Deductions are taken for accidents, missing check calls, chargeable ETA, not turning in paperwork in a reasonable time, etc.

In summary:
The points for all these things are added up and your percentage is determined. As Fred said, in you can't get to 27% after one month you are asleep. BND, an old trainee, went to 30% on his first snapshot. Then the little weasel went to 32% the next month!!! Most of my trainees, including me, go right to 27% - 29%.

So...you take this percentage and use it to figure your pay per load or week. You have heard drivers here say that they get $XXXX to the truck. Say that you are an average guy and that not counting bounce and tarp pay you bring $3,000, $3,500, or $4,000 to the truck that given week. At 23%, your first month, your gross pay will be $690, $805, and $920 respectively. At 28% that means $840, $980, and $1120. (That isn't a 5% raise it is a 22% raise.) Tarp, stop, and bounce pay might bring you an additional $50-100 in a week. Weeks range all over the place. As the economy and freight rates go, so does our pay

I have no idea what the average weekly pay is in the company. I have heard $50K. There is a VERY GOOD health plan, and OK 401K.

At TMC...Slackers fail like flies...Self-motivated people succeed.

How do you pay toll charges are they electronic or out of pocket?

It could be either. You can sign up for PrePass/EZPass for $2.50 per week and a $100.00 deposit, refundable if you leave the program or leave the company. Yeah, is sad we have to pay for this, nevertheless I think it is well worth it just for skipping most weigh stations. EZPass covers tolls mostly in the North East.

You can choose to pay for the tolls out of pocket and get reimbursed. You can even get an advance with a CommCheck. Just make sure you turn in your receipts quickly or they will take it out of your pay.

I was assigned a new Fleet Manager yesterday. Five of us from Texas were changed over to a FM who is supposed to know the Texas market better. TMC is doing this to try to increase our revenue. Texas freight sucks.

Just a clarification, they will take it out of your pay whether you turn in the receipts or not if you take a cash advance to pay tolls. If you get the receipts turned in promptly they'll equal each other out on the same check though :) Otherwise, it gets hard to keep up with.
