What recruiter did you speak with at TMC? I'll try and help out if I can. I'm in Des Moines as we speak.

First i was told Jerod, when they tried to switch me over to him. whoever answered the phone said he did'nt work there anymore. Then i was told John would look into it. I never got to speak with him, that's why i said it deadended. My name is Curtis D

Looks like Jerod is no longer employed by TMC

I contacted the head of recruiting at TMC and Jerod DOES still work there and his extension is 3963.

HEY Jerod, I have been looking long and hard at TMC. I was wondering what i would be considered Longhaul or Linehaul? I live just west of I-96 in Grand Rapids, MI. i was also wondering if you have anything dedicated in that area. I understand you have to work for TMC for at least 6 months before dedicatred Thanks for any help

If you live north of I-94 in MI it is considered longhaul (out 2-3 weeks at a time) anything south of 94 is linehaul (home 46 out of 52). recruiting generally doesn't hire for dedicated positions. Once hired operations will give oppurtunities for dedicated as they are needed with drivers living in certain areas.

sorry it has taken so long for me to post. after Thanksgiving it has been hectic!

hey Jerod! thank you for the answers and that is not a problem with the time it took to reply!

Well the first full week in my own truck is done.I dropped a load of brick in lancaster at alcoa monday then picked up 50ft black pipe in WA going to NC for tues morn. The pipe was being used to refill a lake and to get unloaded you had to drive about 2 miles into the woods along the top of an earth dam and being new it was a bit spooky. Then a 30 mile bounce to pickup short frames for Cat in GA.Well on the way I was sent thru the lexingron yard to get the truck looked at for the no start.I got to lexington around 7pm and they had me bring the tractor in the shop at 8pm.They waited for the shift change at 11pm to get some one to look at it.3 of the 4 batts were stone dead and were replaced. They looked at the alt with eyes not tools or voltmeter and said it was fine. They changed the dash switch for the dump valve so I would have a working dump. They replaced some bulbs and the latch on the lower bunk. The red air hose was replaced and a new end put on the other.I asked to have the fifth wheel lubed up but they said it was fine so while they were not looking I did it myself.I talked to them about the trucks issues with heavy loads and falling on its face tryn to get up the smallest hills. It feels like the clutch is going out.It will pull strong then you fell the truck lose and regain power while you have not changed the amount of hammer you are giving the truck. Its also getting harder to get it out of gear when down shifting. The last week I was with my trainer his truck did the same things and he had to put in a new clutch last weekend.Well I take off and drop the frames off at Cat in GA and get a load out of georgia pacific going to NC thurs.Drop the lumber at a lowes
and go to ameristeel in charlotte NC to get a load of steel bound for VA.
It was for me any way a nasty load.20ft lengths of square stock, round bar, rebar and C channel. It was hard to get every thing held down and they told me I could not use chains.I got it done at any rate and tarped up.I drop it at 5:30 am friday morn and send in my empty. At 10:30 I get my next load.Wire mesh from DE to NH for monday.Did I mention I hate to haul wire mesh? Its like tryn to haul big blocks of jello.Any way I got home at 6:45pm so I guess it could have been much worse.I did not get any good payn loads all week. They were $460 - $630 each.

What did I learn this week?

I can back this truck up like a champ.I can U turn in a space much smaller than I would have guessed. Its not hard to get a truck stuck in sand and a big ass loader can pull it out no problem.Dont take the keys to a truck you dont want.I was lied to by untold numbers of people in TMC that they would get me out of this tractor this past week.I think I need a new Fleet manager.

I took the time to get my trailer fixed as when I got it last week when I did the trailer swap with another driver It had issues. If your trailer is tore up get it fixed. Please dont just dump it on another driver.

I want out of this 387 in the worst way but my FM is no help and the lexington yard was no help. The advice I was given in lexington was to burn it as that is the only way to get rid of it.Its got 400,000 on it now
and just about any thing inside that can break is broken. From doors and latches to bunk AC unit.Any tips on how to get out of it short of cuss words
and threats would be great. My FM told me that they wont let you just go into a terminal and swap out.

bad advise, maybe, but try to kill it. shift as bad as you can, run her at max RPM's at all times, etc.

I don't want you to do this, but i want you to "think" about it...

cheeriooss...

You should document everything wrong with your truck real or perceived and send in a break down macro each and every time. As in: the squeeky wheel gets the grease.
