Women drivers at TMC?
Guess I am a rookie at message boards also... meant to put this question under TMC.
I have been reading though the concerns and good aspects of TMC and I would like to know if TMC currently has any women drivers. If there are, what is their advise to any women out there that are considering TMC? I appreciate all the great info from the posts, y'all keep safe out there. |

you know, you just gotta be proud of your black and chrome shiny trucks.
My wife is going back to Europe next weekend for 2 weeks to visit relatives she's not seen for 4 years, and i'm going to go out. I'm thinking 3 weeks in a row, and down south. FL-TX-CA-UT-CO-FL-GA-TN and otheres in that region. I'm sick of the cold weather, and getting snowed into buchanan with a foot of snow. I had to leave the truck there at Lafarge, and have my wife come and pick me up. Can't wait to go south and thaw up. How's your vacation going John? Still bored and posting? I'm halfway thru the BB database, i'll send it to you soon. cheers BND |
I dunno know Fred, that "Five Words" thread on the Comedy board is at 151 pages. 8)
I heard a few drivers on the CB the other day bashing TMC drivers. Ya'll know, that typical Channel 19 crap..... They were mad over calling to a passing TMC truck and the driver(s) not responding. "They act like they are so much better than us." I was laughing so hard at their rants that I thought I was going to crash my own truck, hello McFly, they prolly had the CB's turned off or on another channel talking amongst themselves. Ya'll keep it real. |

I'm not sure what all this complaining about snow is all about. For the past two weeks I have had nothing but great weather. A little rain coming through the Memphis area, but that was it. I've been in TX, NM, AZ, OK, AR, MO, IA, IL, IN, OH, WV and PA. Nothing but great weather. I still think this snow deal is a hoax waged on us gullible Texans that don't know any better. 8)
Other than it being on the East Coast I liked PA roads. There are pull offs all over. You get tired or run out of hours, you always have a place to rest. There Travel Plazas have Starbucks in them, also! Thoughts, on GPS, it is one of the greatest tools available, but don't trust it 100%. It has routed me down restricted roads, local roads limited to 5 tons and through city streets where you don't have enough room to maneuver. Always check your route against your Motor Carrier's Atlas. I'm still at 23% and will take two snapshot periods to get any higher. It's all a timing thing. This 23% sucks big time when I can figure what I would make at 27%, 28% or even 32%. I guess I'll look at it as more time available to earn some bonus points for a higher certification. My Out OF Route miles are low, gas mileage is high, I make all my appointments on time, most well before time, revenue to the truck is where it should be and I get all my PO's for washes on time. My Fleet Manager likes to give me appointments I can barely make. Without the speed of GPS I don't think I could make some of them. My EZPass/PrePass was shut off by mistake. Of course, no one told me about it. I noticed it wasn't beeping going through some of the Weight Stations. They were close, but they usually still beep. It is a good thing I noticed before I got on the East Coast and blew through some of the EZPass tolls. I got that fixed, from the time I noticed it and found out what was wrong and got some one to fix it, I was without for about a week. That was a pain, going through all those Weight Stations. |

My trainer taught me a trick to getting lumber tarps off of a tall load without struggling. Throw a 2" strap over the load close to the end of the tarp. Tie the bare end into the last d-ring. On the other side of the truck pull the strap and the tarp over the trailer. If it's stuck put the strap behind your butt and put the hook on the strap in front of you to hold it and then use your body weight to pull the strap. |
