Give Con-Way Truckload a try. Also here in Tampa, you may consider talking to Knight Trans. They have a terminal in Lakeland. Last time I spoke to them, Melton was pretty liberal in their hiring. That's flatbed, not sure if you're intersted in that or not. One more that may take a chance, Cypress Truck Lines, out of Jax. Another flatbed co. You may have to just take what you can get for the first year or two.

Hope that helps.

You can also try Lester the molester Coggins in Okahumpka,FL
otherwise known as LCT Trucking (Lester Coggins Trucking) Had an old friend who got the raw end of the deal at Florida Rock and was unemployed for 15 months, they hired him on with out a refresher course and he only rode with a trainer for three weeks. He did not like working for them at all and only made three months with them as I was able to get him hired on at my company, but none the less it is a start and if it gets you back in the truck then so be it..
Good Luck.

Hey there Timberwolf. Nice seeing ya on here. I applied at DB trucking today and am going to put in an app at Penn Tank Lines here. I am thinking also of applying at Port Consolidated and Dillon. Any info on any of them? Also, I went back and reread a PM you had sent me and in it you mentioned BLT but I can't find them listed on google. Do you have a website for them? Thanks for any input you can give.

Luzon,
I don't know much about Dillon we really don't see much of them at Kinder Morgan in Orlando. However Port consolidated seems to be fairly strong, they have several straight trucks that run out of the rack and the drivers seem to be staying busy and happy. They also run one 18 wheeler over here, however I have seen several guys driving that tractor over the past year so I am not sure if the turn over rate is for good reason, who knows one mans crap job is another man's blessing. We don't see much of BLT at the rack any more on once or twice a week, the next time I see one I will ask the driver for info on the company I had no luck finding info on them as well. Thank your blesings you did not get on at Florida Rock, or at least in the Orlando area as they have lost 80% of their business to Mansfield Oil.. and seem to be on a downward spiral as their sales team does not drum up new business. Are you working now or have you been looking for the last year like many other drivers out there?

Talk to you soon.

Thanks for the reply Timberwolf. I got off the road in Nov, 09 after driving for Con-Way Truckload - the old CFI. Since that time, I've been back in the insurance business (life, health, disability, etc) but it's slow as hell and so I'm seriously trying to get a local gig driving here in Tampa. I'd especially like a fuel transport job. I've applied with Energy Dispatch, Penn Tank Lines, and DB Trucking. I applied for my TWIC last week. I'm going to be filling out apps today for Dillon and 1 or 2 others. One can only take so much application filling out a day before they start looking for a sharp stick to poke into their eye.

Anyway, I'm also trying to check out some others online. PTC, B-Line, Martin, Edison Oil, PTI (hauling LPG, which I'm really apprehensive about; that's some nasty stuff there)
If you have any other idea, I'd love to hear them.

I called FLA Rock a few times but they were never hiring right then. Maybe that's a good thing.

Talk to ya soon.

Thanks,
L
