Default Refresher Course

I have been out of a truck since 2005. I plan on taking a refresher course to become employable in this field again. I spoke with a recruiter at Gordon Trucking who told me that a refresher course was not enough. I will have to take the full course over.
Has anyone ran into this hurdle with other carriers ? Is this the norm ?

Have you talked to Heartland? They offer a refresher course.

Heartland's refresher course is for drivers that have been off for 12 to 24 months, have 2 years of unbroken OTR experience before coming off road, have been working at least during their time off (no unemployment), and have a perfect MVR.

Being out of the truck since '05 is going to be the killer hurdle.

Every company has its own hiring practices. Much may depend on exactly how much time has passed and how much experience you had before you stopped driving. Your best bet is to call around and/or put in a bunch of applications and see who bites and what they have to say.
