Default Local companies, Baltimore to Richmond

Looking for local or regional work between Baltimore and Richmond (as home area). Sadly, Hagerstown is a little too far for me.

Yup, I'm looking to quit the OTR thing. It has zero to do with either Crete or OTR in general. One day out of seven I hate it. Two days I can tolerate it. The other four days I like or love it. Solitude is mostly good. But my ex wife is causing some trouble for me, especially with regards to my relationship with my son. Being home, at least for a while, can give me the resources I need to deal with it/her.

I know we have a regional out of Richmond, but it's too late for me to call my FM and ask him about it (heck, he might still be out on medical).

If you don't know of anything in particular, any ideas on how to find something? I know two people who might know something, and have already contacted one of them.

i knew someone who drove the container route for crete out of the port of richmond.. he said he made .40 cents a mile and averaged about 2100 a week, and thats does come with drop and hook pay.. and detention for waiting for a can... he said he made around 750 to 900 a week.. all depends how hard he ran, but he was home a couple days through the week and home on friday nights and didnt leave until sunday afternoon.. well worth the checking out.. but this guy did live 50 miles north of the port in Caroline County near the MM 133 Truckstop off of 95

I'm about 50-60 miles further up. Just over the Harry Nice bridge into MD. Thanks for the tip.

gmh, have you contacted Northern Neck Trucking just down the road from you? I know they are mainly OTR doing military runs coast to coast but they might have something local. Payne Trucking in Fredericksburg is decent. Danny has 2 different divisons, OTR vans and local rock haulers. Stay away from Duffield off Rt. 3 in King George. They haul crap(literally) and treat their drivers the same way.

Swift has regional/local out of Richmond.

Hawk, you mean he lived near the 104 MM if he was in Caroline. 133 is Fredericksburg and it's 59 miles from downtown Richmond.

Try Cowan: http://www.cowansystems.com/

They're based out of Maryland and have barns all over the state. I think they've got a barn in Richmond, VA too. They do alot of dedicated drop/hook runs.

Mostly I'm interested in something that will have me home on weekends. A time or two during the week is a bonus. I'm just now figuring I have to do this, so I'm open to all suggestions.

Another to look into is Ennstone/Colonial. They have the large sand and gravel pit in King George and Stafford, Va. Home every night but they make runs up to Winchester and Front Royal, Va.

Depends on what type of work your looking for. Do you mind using your Class A to pull a dump trailer where your home every night or would you rather run the vans? Maybe even look into Home Depot or Lowes as a flatbed driver for them if you don't mind giving that a try.
