Default Help: a TruckDriverwannabe

Hello Everyone,

I'm excited to be here for the first time. I'm a TruckDriverwannabe.
I've never driven a car before, but I've a great desire to start Big Truck as
a profession.

I'd be moving to Canada from South Korea in October or thereabout, and so looking forward to start with Truck training school or something. Am 30 years old man, a university student in Alberta (online)I'll have become a permanent residence in Canada by August, then move in October.

Please tell me what should my expectations be? I will appreciate all comments, I need as much informations as I can get here.
Thank you

I do not know about Canadian companies, but US companies will not consider hiring anyone unless they have proof of at least one year and some 3 years of experience operating a motor vehicle, and most of the time that has to be experience driving in the USA or Canada (since Canadian traffic laws are very similar to the USA).

Most likely what you will need to do when you move is find a basic drivers education course and take that. Get your basic drivers license, buy a car and become comfortable driving it for 1-3 years at which time enroll in a commercial drivers training program which will help make you eligible for hire by a trucking company.

Ok. Normally, the new people who want to drive a truck has some experience on the road. You are 30 years old, without even driving a car.

Why don't you spend some time learning how to drive a car for a few years, then, if you still want to drive a rig, look into getting a CDL.

Trust me, jumping into a big rig is NOT something you want to do before you learn how to drive.
